A series of small problems.

After 10 days post Tivo, we're doing pretty well with SAGE. There are three top issues that the DH wants me to work out:

1: DVD Drive Noise: I bought the best of its kind ROM drive. But it is WAY too fast. I loaded Nero drivespeed, but it didn't seem to change the performance. What do you guys use to control your drive speed? Ideally, I'd like to take this drive down to 2x, or just enough to play back movies. That is it's whole purpose for existing right now. Not ripping, not burning, no games....just movie playback. So I've got to kill some noise.

2. We have an HDHomeRun, which we're loving. What we don't love is that we have subchannel numbering for some channels. (12-1 for the first subchannel.) We'd like to specify a channel from the remote, but there is no 'dash' symbol on the remote to let us 'dial direct' by channel number. (We're running a classic Ehome MCE remote.)

3. My wife knows that a there is a program airing on FMC on the 23rd. But she can't find a way to 'dial direct' to see the FMC listing for the 23rd. (She can get an EPG grid, find the FMC channel and then scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll through a week's worth of grid view to get to the 23rd. But how do you dial direct?

TIA for all of your great help.

M

Either map a button on the remote to the dash command ('-'), or go to Channel Setup and remap the logical channel number to be only digits.

From almost any navigation menu (such as the Main Menu), start entering numbers/text to search for shows.

Also see the Program Guide section of the PDF manual for some usage details, such as entering a number + FF/REW to skip that many days forward or backward in the guide.

Thanks for the suggestions Andy.

I was wondering about the key-remap. I do find it odd that it would map in to a key that it doesn't work with in the first place.

Concerning the search for shows....

This method works great if you know what the name of the show is. But if I don't know what the name of the show is, or if I only know 'TMC @ 8pm on 12/23' do I still have any direct dial method?

Any suggestions about my DVD spin speed?
