6.5.3 Hibernate problems
Until I installed 6.5.3, my SageTV system would hibernate when idle, and wake up automatically to record shows. Since installing 6.5.3, the computer never hibernates. I tried forcing it to hibernate using a batch file with the command "rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState Hibernate".
However after that, the system did not wake up to recorded scheduled shows. Has anyone else had problems with hibernation with 6.5.3? It was OK up through 6.5.2. Thanks, Tim. |

I just upgraded my Sage client/server and I am happy to say that Sage is now capable of waking up my PC from hibernate. However, it rarely goes into hibernate even though I have it set for every hour to go down. I don't know if this is new to 6.5.3 or if I would have this problem with another version. All I know is that I have to send it to hibernate and it does wake up soon after.

The only issues I have seen appear to be related to the Vista OS. The main problem I have always had is that the system will not hibernate is intelligent recordings are occurring. Sage gives the system permission to go down but Vista does not allow it. I suspect this is due to the disk activity. I have gotten around this by marking IR recordings as don't like to provide an idle time for the system to go down. Last nite, it appears my system did not hibernate as expected and I don't know why. I did test it, this morning and the system did hibernate. It could be another program did not allow the hibernation or perhaps Sage scheduled some intelligent recordings after I went to bed.
You can turn on Sage power management debug options by adding the following line to the properties file: debug_pm=TRUE It will show lines like: Fri 12/12 14:30:54.687 [PowerManagement@15a3dd7] PM currState=0 wakeupTime=Fri 12/12/2008 14:58:00.000 A currstate value of 0 tells the system it is OK to power off, any non-zero value requires the system and/or display to remain on. I did see a problem where the system would hibernate when it should not have with the current beta. Support gave me a new sage.jar file to workaround that issue.

Does it know to automatically turn back on when you turn on an HD200?

You could probably set your server up to wake on any ethernet activity but I think that would cause the server to be woken up too much. That also brings up the possibility of would the HD200 time out before the server woke up.

I use a free windows program to send a magic packet to my server. The program is available here http://magicpacket.free.fr/

My sage PC is set to wake on directed packets, that is, not any traffic but only those packets ('magic' or not) that are destined for it's address. This allows my HD extender (100) to wake the server when I turn it on. It takes about one minute for the server to come up, and the extender handles this quite nicely. I cannot say the same for the MVP, however. It will sit there waiting for the server all day without ever waking it up.
