Any way to change the Station ID on a channel?
Is there any easy way to change the zap2it Station ID for a channel?
I had a station (KTCA-DT) that pulled no EPG data. So, I added a new channel (KTCADT) and provided a station ID. Unfortunately, I entered the wrong station ID, so ended up with the wrong EPG data. I could find no way of changing the incorrect station ID, or deleting the station with the incorrect station ID so I could re-enter it with the correct one, so I ended up adding another channel, (KTCASD -- not a real call sign) , this time getting the station ID correct, and getting the proper EPG data. How do I fix the Station ID (on KTCA-DT or KTCADT) without having to create a new station with an incorrect call sign? After that, how do I delete a channel (KTCASD)? I'm not sure if you could edit the station ID in the properties file, but how to delete one that you added is covered on p. 161 of the v6.4 PDF manual, under the "Add Channel to Lineup" section.

I did "reset to default channel number" (this is not very intuitive as a "delete") in order to remove the KTCADT channel after I had entered the incorrect Station ID. However, when re-adding KTCADT, I was not prompted for the Station ID like I was when I first entered it.
So while this "reset to default channel number" may allow a channel to be removed from the line-up, it doesn't seem to actually delete the channel, since SageTV appears to remember the Station ID and doesn't ever prompt for it again when trying to re-add the "deleted" station. Edit: Missed this line "The channel will be removed from view and should be removed from the database during the next EPG update." Guess I'll have to wait till the "next EPG update". Very annoying. I've now waited over 48 hours after "deleting" KTCADT and KTCASD as described above, but when I try to enter a new KTCADT, entering a Station ID of 21634 (the one I had previously used on KTCASD before removing it) I keep getting "That Station ID is already in use by an existing channel: KTCASD"
KTCASD is still listed in the channels available for remap. At this point, it appears that you cannot removed channels that have been added with a Station ID (KTCADT was added without a station ID) -- unless I'm missing some special trick. Why there is no "delete channel" option that immediately removes the channel is simply beyond me. |
