Setup icon missing after installing MC

SageTV (latest version) was running well with all videos, music and DVD's playing OK.

Installed latest version of MC as instructed. If I change layout from default to circle then I lose the "setup" icon. It's just gone. It's not there on the vertical layout either.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Just to be sure I understand what you changed when you did this:

If I change layout from default to circle

Be more specific on the steps you took to do that. What do you mean by "default to circle?"

At the home screen I did this:

Right click and select customize screen layout
Select Import/Export
Select Import all
Select Examples folder
Select Circle layout
Apply changes.

Home screen comes up but Setup icon missing.

Ok. So are you only missing the setup icon or also the setup menu item entirely?

NOTE: You can follow those same steps and choose a different layout file to see if it returns under a different layout.

Yes the icon and menu item is missing.

In horizontal setup both are missing also.

In text setup the text is missing.

In vertical the icon and menu item is also missing.

So when does the Settings menu item show up?

In the horizontal menu I select My Menu then settings is in the next layout, but there are no icons showing only menu items or boxes in that menu

In the circle layout the same, click on My Menu then setup is there without icons showing but menu items are.

In vertical layout the same.

Every time I leave the home page icons stop appearing only text in the menu items.

Did you assign icons to the menu items in the submenu? (Bring up the dynamic menu configuration menu by hitting the options key and selecting the first item)

No I assigned nothing. I just assumed screens would look just like screen shots shown on this web site and others (geektonic).

Can you point me to a good tutorial that explains all or most of the functions of MC?

Did you look in the stickies at the top of the forum?
