Question What is it, and can I get rid of it?

Getting more and more into Sage as my Bell PVR rental is going back in May...

I find that on some SD channels when they are run through SAGE, there is a line at the top of the screen (I have it "stretching" to fill my LCD HDTV) that looks like another feed... no other way to explain it.

It looks like it's only about 1 or 2 rows of pixels (not a good judge), and it runs from left to right on top of itself, which is why I say it looks like some other feed.

I don't see this if I go straight from the STB to the TV without going through Sage.

Any ideas what this is, and can I get rid of it?

Thanks
Gregg

I believe what you're seeing is the Closed Captioning data. You can crop it out with the zoom feature in Sage by increasing it a couple percentage points.

In SageTV and SageTV Client it's in the detailed settings as overscan settings. 103% is usually enough to move it off the top of the screen.

Just to avoid possible confusion, you need to look under Aspect Ratio settings. Overscan settings only affect the UI.

Nice.... thanks folks!

Bumped the VERTICAL aspect up to 103% and it's gone...

My bad! I was doing it from memory and forgot the specifics. Oldtimers disease I guess. Thanks for the correction!

I only caught it because I've made the same mistake, though I'll never admit it.... Oh, wait...

Aloha,
Mike
