SD (4x3) Playback of HD (16x9) Server Source

My server is recording HD content from my satellite box (HD-PVR) at 16X9. I have the HD200 Extender hooked up via s-video to a SD TV. The picture is being shoe-horned into the 4x3 ratio (squished from the sides so everything looks taller than it should). I'm not getting the black bars along the top and bottom that I'd like to keep the aspect ratio correct. How can this be done?

I have a similar setup.

When I put the Aspect to "Source" I do get bars on the top and bottom (as expected since source is HD-PVR recording 720p from a directv box. When I put it on zooma (or maybe b), it ends up doing the right thing.

I'd like to know how to setup customized aspect ratios if possible.

I had tried all of the aspect ratios and I could not get "Source" to display the the correct source aspect ratio (always squished). In the last hour, for no reason that I can determine it's now showing the correct 16x9 aspect ratio with black bars at the top and bottom. Weird....I didn't even turn it on/off.
