Accessing shared folders
I just got my HD200 today, and most everything is working really well. I'm really pleased with it. I have one question that probably has an easy answer... When I am trying to use the 'Network File Browser' I can see my workgroup and when I click into it can see the computer names on my network just fine, but when I click into any of them I get 'invalid directory'. I have shared my video storage drive on my main PC and given everyone full access, but still get the error. What am I missing?
I also want to add that once I have connected to a Sage Server, everything works fine, and in the Media Browser I can browse with no issues. It's only when I'm at the HD200's home menu that I am having this problem. Thanks Edit to add: Does the Guest account *have* to be enabled in order for the HD200 to browse a computer? I run Win2k3 as my Sage server and have the guest account disabled for security reasons. I just happened to check the event log and there are many failed login attempts from the HD200's IP using the guest account. Is it possible to specify the login credentials for the HD200 to use? Thanks Last edited by rswoods; 12-08-2008 at 09:43 PM. |

I think you need to activate the guest account. I don't think the extender is passing a user name or password. I use WHS and use the guest account for my client so I don't have to create the user account of the client machine on my server.

I'm trying to setup my system so any HD200 Extender has rights to delete files ONLY from the "Recorded TV". Currently, they can delete any movies, videos, music, etc that is stored on my WHS Sage server. I'm assuming the extenders use the Administrator account for access, but I'm not sure.
I suppose I could have a separate NAS for everything but RecordedTV... but that kinda defeats the purpose of having WHS. Any suggestions?
