After a reset or first setup. Just go through the NTSC video resolutions. Then when in stand-alone-mode. Get into the following menu option:

> Settings > Advanced Setup > Multimedia > Television Standard > PAL

Just set it to PAL. Think you get a message about reboot of HD200 before active. So pull the power plug. Let it get into stand-alone-mode again. Then go into following menu option:

> Settings > Video Output > (.../Component/HDMI) > [v]

You should now see PAL modes (576). Enable the ones your TV supports.

NOTE: I've only tried this with latest beta firmware 20081212. So it may not be available in earlier versions.

Hmmm. Been testing a little. Just got this set up today, replacing my HD100.

Even though you apparently can select PAL in menu as described above, and choose 'supported' modes. Not all is in place yet. I've forced (Enabled) "Native Output Resolution Switching". Both in the stand-alone-mode Settings, and in Settings when connected to SageTV server. Note, I only test actual video use when against SageTV server. Never in stand-alone-mode. But I've enabled the setting both places to be on the safe side.

But I can say for certain that the HD200 do not actually use 576i/p mode when served 576i material (as most of my TV/live is). My TV would have blanked out about 5sec to change mode, and shown indicator for new mode. For now it keeps to my prefered menu resolution which is 1080p and scales the 576i material.

So looks like it's still some work on PAL mode needed.

Looks like this have been fixed with the latest beta firmware 20081219 0 for HD200. My TV now indicates switch to native 576i for the signal received over HDMI when I watch live TV now
