Out of curiousity, because I've never really understood this - do people really sit around and control their Sage playback with their phones instead of using a normal remote? I've got to be missing something. Or is this just useful when you want to screw with whoever's home watching your tv while you're out?

Hahahah. Funny! Actually, I quite like being able to control Sage from my phone. My son is now old enough where he's staying up later than when my wife and I go to bed. So now, instead of us continuously screaming for him to turn the tv off and go to sleep, I just kill Sage from my phone. I can control the lights from my phone too. My son is not very happy....

I like to pause/power off/change channel on the kids' MVPs while I'm away. It drives them mad...

Great work Jason, works well on a Nokia 8800 which has Opera mini as the browser. The way the browser highlights links makes it difficult to see where you are sometimes but it does the job.
Sat in a bar in Thailand and heard someone mention that the new season of 24 starts in the UK on Monday. 2 minutes later a new favourite is setup and its ready to record, cheers! |

If anything, I think a more traditional application (J2ME, iPhone, etc) would work better anyway. I'd like to try Melloware's Intelliremote iPhone application but I don't have Windows.

So when you click on 3, you couldn't pass it back to the same page as a variable?

That might be possible, but after the page "reloaded" it was always repositioned at the top, so '3' may not be visible any more if it was very far down the page. I use "reloaded" in quotes because I was using Ajax, so the page shouldn't reload and I didn't find out what was actually happening.

Okay, somewhere between version 1 and version 1.01, I apparently got REALLY stupid. Had it all up and running, then did a complete reinstall and am just now getting around to setting up the mobile app.
Neilm is running successfully All on same pc, nothing tried from outside yet Changed the port in jettystarter, but nothing else Pointing the browser to http://(sageserver):8081/sage/m/menu.jsp give me a "cannot conect message" Where do I start looking for problems? Okay, fair enough. I must not have saved the props file or the service wasn't shut down, because I still had the line from Brent's original thread in there. In any case, still not working, after stopping, editing, restarting and double checking both edits post-restart.
Sage props has this: load_at_startup_runnable_classes=sagex.jetty.starter.Main Jettystarter has this: # The port on which Jetty listens for requests. The default is 8080 and is specified # in etc/jetty.xml. jetty.port=8081 What am I missing? EDIT: Multiple stops/restarts seem to have woken it up, it's working now. I hope I'm smarter now, I have no idea what changed!

Authentication
Is there any way to turn authentication off? I am using LDAP auth through apache for the root of my webserver and I don't want to have to login at each stop. Nielm's webserver had the walkthrough on how to do this for his server thought it might be possible for the mobile version also.
Thanks, Jayson

Yes it can be done. I haven't needed much more than a basic username/password for all URLs so far so I haven't researched the other possibilities or documented it much.
If you want to turn off authentication for the mobile web interface, open SAGE_HOME/jetty/contexts/sagewebapp.xml and look for the following line Code:
<Set name="authenticate">true</Set>

Version 1.1
Version 1.1 of the Mobile Web Interface is now available! This has some more significant changes than the last update, plus a few bug fixes that have been reported in this thread. It is also recommended that you get the latest version of the Jetty server plugin (1.5).

There's nothing special to do if you're upgrading from 1.4 to 1.5. If you're upgrading from an earlier version you'll need to follow the instructions for the versions you're upgrading past.

very cool, been waiting for this (airing search) since day one!
is there any way to move the search button closer to the search box, or allow the search query to be launched by hitting the enter key while the cursor is in the box? just searching for some keywords seems sufficient for 99.99% of my needs, so i rarely need to adjust all the drop downs. it would be quicker if it wasnt necessary to scroll all the way down. just a thought, i love it either way, thanks for your work!

Almost but not quite working...
I have just set up the original webserver as well as this one and i am close but not quite there. I have a treo 700w with windows mobile. i can see the pages from sage amd navigate through them but cant "press" any of the buttons to interact with sage. eg i can open the listings page and see the current listings. i can use the drop downs to select a different day /tine/range but i cant select or "press" the update button. Niether the touch screen or the navigation keys seem to work.
I am thinking it must be something in the phone ...any ideas??? Thanks Peter |

Can you verify they work in IE/FF?
