Thumbs up Fix for DXVA with EVR in V6.5.1

OK, here's the update you've been waiting for.

http://download.sage.tv/EVRDXVAFix.zip

Just extract it into your SageTV folder and overwrite the 2 DLLs that are already there. DXVA with EVR should then work on Vista (we have quite a few confirmations already)

This also fixes the A/V sync problem as well.

Thanks! Is this required if I just use a HD100, or is this for Sage PC clients only?

Also, does this fix the crashes reported in the beta forum with 6.5.1?

Thanks.

This is freakin' AWESOME! There may be those who think I was annoying in my resolve to request EVR support. I gotta say, it is all worth it. This is really awesome. All video formats (SD and HD) look unbelievable in Vista now.

Thanks guys!

You 'aint kidding

H.264 looks beautiful now! I was blown away by the rock solid picture and smooth pans when I had Gladiator on Cinemax last night.

Huge props to Sage for getting this working.

Thank you!

Well DXVA wouldn't work under XP since XP only suports DXVA 1. EVR uses DXVA 2. Unless there's some hack I don't know about.

Amazing news! I plan on testing this tonight. Does this include DXVA2 support?

I just tested this new fix on my two Vista clients and it's working amazingly well. Silky smooth with TV, and low CPU! One of my original issues still stand (I submitted a bug report for)... MKV playback plays audio only and has a black screen. Keep up the great work!

Hi,

EVR with DXVA is now working beautifully on my test machine.

Thanks to Narflex and all the SageTV developers.

Works great here too - Vista x64, Radeon 4870, C2D @ 3GHz - minimal CPU usage with H.264.

@Narflex, Would it be possible to enable Closed Captions with EVR?

CC in EVR can be done the same way, by adding "Line 21 decoder 2" to the graph.

When I finally got home last night I tried out EVR playback with the new beta and updates and it's working wonderfully. Both MPEG2 and H.264 from my HD-PVR and MKV files are using less than 10% CPU on playback. This is running on Vista x64 with a Radeon 3870 using the latest 8.11 drivers (which apparently have a fix for DXVA acceleration in Vista).

Same here, ahs a chance to update the dlls this morning before work and now things work well. Odd part is that the very first time I tuned to a HD-PVR based channel, the hardware decode didn't "work" until I hit pause and then play again. After that, changing channels and whatnot couls not reproduce the problem.

Now if Hauppage would get rid of that "click/squeal/pop" at the beginning of tuning.....

My CPU utilization is 5-6% with both HDHR and HD-PVR decoding. HD-PVR input is my DirecTV box set at 720p.

Playback on HDPVR recordings is ok except yesterday I was watching Mythbusters and after fast forwarding using 45 second skips the video started breaking up until I would stop and restart playback.
