Question What hardware/chassi good for SageTV Client with 1080p?

Hello,

I very interesting to build slim and silent (with micro ATX board) SageTV Client hardware that able to play 1080p content.
Any body can recomend chassi, motherboard, CPU, fan, power supply to build relative cheap slim (up to 75mm) hardware to play 1080p. As I undestand the best current chipset is AMD 780G correct me if i am wrong.

thanks in advance.

I did something similar, using

Silverstone LC02 chassis (100mm tall)
Silverstone NT-07 CPU cooler
ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI (AMD 780G)
AMD Athlon 5000+

It works fine, but I had troubles finding the right codecs.... still not satisfied for HD playback which occupies CPU more than 50%.
I'm doing now a similar system but I just ordered the ASUS M3A78-T (AMD 790GX), want to check if it is better for HD.

If you need something slimmer always from Silverstone there is the LC19, which is just 68mm, but on the other side offers only 120W power supply:

Hope this helps.

BTW... I already asked in another thread: what is DVB Enhancer for SageTV ? I tried installing it yesterday with no success, does it need DVBDream or it works alone ?

You can reduce your cpu usage with a 3450 and enable hybrid crossfire.

The only codec I found that seems to put the load on the GPU is the Cyberlink 7. Alls the others have good looking output but run at the 50-60% mark. The Cyberlink runs at like 4-6%.

In the end I am using the ArcSoft even with the high CPU usage because the picture is better. Nothing else really runs on the box so I really dont care what it uses as long as it doesn't skip.

I would like to test Cyberlink 8 but I have not found a trail with h.264 support. Comments on how it comares to the ArcSoft would be welcome.

I love the Silver Stone SST-LC17-S ATX case I use for my main Sage server. It is big but there is room for a full ATX motherbords and you can have 6 interal Hard drives a DVD R/W plus a BluRay. If fits well in the Entertaimnet center about the with of a AV reciever just tall. With the right powersupply and fan it is almost silent.

I use the Silverstone LC20. Has the 6 hd bays and two 5.25 bays like the LC17. They come in black and silver. It's smaller than my Yamaha A/V Receiver. I could only fit 4 hds in my case due to the length of some of my cards and the sata plug placement on my mb.
