Inconsistent Skip, FF, REW

I seem to be getting inconsitent results when using the Skip, FF, REW and Reverse functions on my Sage PC. I have not changed from the default settings (for example skip is 2:30 and FF is 0:20). Sometime when I press these buttons it will skip forward 10 minutes or so. Note that this happens with both the buttons on my remote as well as when I use a mouse to click the buttons by the progress bar. Occasionally when I press FF it will go forward less than a second, some with REW.

The files that I am watching are generally H.264 files and I am often watching as the show is still being recorded, if this makes a difference. I am generally watching sporting events so moving too far into the future is a big problem as you don't want to know what happens next. I am not 100% sure if this problem also occurs with MPEG files as almost all of the content that I watch in this way is HD and encoded by the HD-PVR.

I am using the latest version of SageTV with the default UI and I am directly using the SageMedia PC - I am not using an extender, placeshifter or client. My OS is Vista HP.

I doubt this FAQ is it, but you can check it:
During playback, the timeline advances several seconds for each second of actual playback. How can I fix this?

More likely is this beta file:
