Is there no way to search for "HD movies" to record in Sage?

I've had Sage for a couple of months now but hadn't dug around much in the recording menus since I'd spent countless hours just trying to get things working properly with the HD-PVR.

Now that that's reasonably squared away, I went to search for TV programs to record and I was surprised how unwieldy the software is here. First, there's so many darn categories as to be almost unusable.

I just want to find HD movies to record. Right now, I have to select "movies" and then scroll through a huge list of SD and HD movies to find the ones I want. Not to mention that the same movies are listed over and over again on different dates.

This type of "search database" thing seems like something a PC should easily excel at. Am I missing some basic functionality, or is this all there is? I'm guessing I'm missing the obvious.

Thanks.
-Chris

What menus are you using, and what STV are you using?

The search results screens have filters you can select above the airings, one of which is for HD.

The SageTV Recordings menu has configurable filters for each of its views, including HD.

The Browse By Category menu includes a category called HDTV.

The hidden features have a series of menus originally designed by malore & each one has the capability to configure multiple views with different filters, including HD. In my opinion, this is the best & most powerful way to go because one of the custom menus is Upcoming Movies, listing all upcoming movies for all channels or just the channels you choose.

I also like the Malore menus for searching movies. You can set filters to search on multiple categories. What I do is sort movies by Star Rating (1-4 stars) and then sort by HD content. My movie library is now huge!!!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm using the standard STV and the the Schedule Recordings menu as I recall (I'll have to check tonight where I go from there... I think browse by category). I tried again last night and I just can't see how to select multiple filters at the same time (e.g. HD and Movies). To be clear, can I do that with the standard STV, or do I need the Malore menus?

Thanks,
-Chris

There are no filters on the Browse By Category menu; it just has a list of categories, with the HDTV pseudo-category added to the list.

I listed the menus with filters above.

Then you have no airings marked as HDTV in your guide. You either don't have any HD tuners or no channels with HD-marked content. If you think you should, then that's a topic for another thread.

How do you access the "Browse By Category" menu?
