Why won't Sage record my #1 favorite ?

This week my #1 favorite Battlestar Galactica did not record on Fri. or Sat. night. Looking back in airing history I see the airings but with generic descriptions. There are both marked as first time airings. I have it set to record first runs and reruns on any channel but no joy. It was doing this before with Big Brother 9, again with generic descriptions. Of course at the time I though it was a bonus feature since I don't think much of that show Could it be that multiple shows with identical names and descriptions are flagged as first run as opposed to reruns ?

Check this FAQ for some reasons why a Favorite might not record, and the one above it.

And, it doesn't matter whether there is a decription; what matters is the ShowID.

If you have a log frmo that time, you could see if it has any references to the show -- maybe there was a conflict or the recording file ended up being corrupted.

I recall having to clear the watched status to get Big Brother to start recording again. If a show has an identical title and description how is the ShowId calculated ? Is there any way around when networks give generic show descriptions ?

The ShowID isn't calculated; it is part of the EPG data. Edit: at least, it is part of the data from Zap2it. It might be a calculated value for some XMLTV EPG data, but I'm not sure.
