macro or blaster control for mce 1039 remote

I am SO close to bringing my sage box on line. I've finally started using the MCE 2005 remote and receiver that has the blaster components as well.

I've discovered, to my irritation that, AGAIN, the Tivo remote is still the smartest on the market. The Tivo remote lets you attach multiple IR events, even for different hardware, to the power button. So when I press 'power' the Tivo transmits the 'off' to my TV, and then transmits 'off' to my amplifier.

Unfortunately, the MCE remote, while it does have a programmable power button, doesn't appear to support this kind of convenience. (If I'm wrong PLEASE let me know.) I've programmed the power button to turn off the TV, the volume buttons to control the amp volume and the channel change is handled by SAGE passing channel data to a PatersonTech TV translator, serial to USB for control of my DTV TUNER.

I just need the damn power button to turn off my amp, too.

Suggestions? Am I going to be stuck wading in to some disaster like girder, or IRghost or LM or something? One that has a million pre-requisites and won't stay running for more than a fortnight?

Any and all help will be appreciated. Like I said....I SO close.

M

Logitech Harmony remote. You should be able to find one for around $50. I use one in every room. Controls everything I have. SageTV HD Extender, TV, Amp, cable box, etc. Search the forum.

Gerry,

Thanks for the tip on the Harmony, but I think I may not have explained my situation well; Having already purchased 4 different remotes that were 'supposed to work' with either SAGE or MythTV, I'm now on a 'make it work in software budget.' (The lady of the house wants this working, but is convinced I can do so without dumping any more cash in to it. (I'm already in for over $1000, mostly owing to switching horses when ever I hit a roadblock.)

I know the MCE can do what I need it to. I just need get hooked up with someone who can point me in the right direction to make it go. I've seen many applications of varying quality, and I'm looking for recommendations for the one that will get my current hardware rig going the fastest.

Any suggestions on the software front?

M

Eventghost, Hip or Girder. Also look at Intelliremote. Most are no cost or low cost-except Girder. Girder costs almost as much as a Harmony remote.

If the remote has that feature you may be able to run EventGhost have it learn the function you want and then go back to what you do now.

I'm a big fan of EventGhost so without a doubt if it were my setup I would run EventGhost fulltime and disable all the remote/ir controls in SageTV.

If you have a stickon emitter I have little doubt EventGhost can do as you desire but I don't have an MS remote reciever to know.
