SageMC v6.3.8 Installation Survey

I just want to get an idea of how many people are having installation issues with the new SageMC release. Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

I can't believe it I got to be the first to vote in a poll.

This was one of the smoothest upgrades I've done for the interface. 6.3.7 was much more traumatic. It looks great.

Installed with minor problems. My problems were resolved by deleting the properties file for my clients.

Had the distortion issue that a Sage restart fixed right up.

Nice work.

Used SageMC6.3.8 to upgrade a SageMC6.3.7a STV on a SageTV_Client 6.3.10 and noticed that MY MENU > ONLINE SERVICES displayed a blank page. Undaunted, I upgraded the Client to 6.4.8 (now same as the Server) and all is well.

Edit: I voted "Installed Upgrade without problems" since the Client version was my issue.

Is anyone else having problems getting the AMG 1.3 to work? I just re-downloaded and unzipped into SageTV directories and re-imported the STVi but I don't see STVi as an option in screen specific options, just default and Old style.

The miniguide plugins have to be updated.

New SageMC user here. Downloaded/installed SageMC6.3.7a five days ago and 6.4.8 upgrade three days ago. Both installed on both my SageTV clients without issue. Love what SageMC brings to the table. Keep up the good work. It is appreciated.

Have only been using SageTV for 10 weeks now after four years of LowDef MCE 2005 recordings grabbed via s-video from sat boxes. Watched my last dvr-ms recording last week. Glad to have left that behind me. SageTV, three HiDef OTA tuners and two HD PVRs have made me verry happy.

SageMC is the iceing on the cake.

Same here as Qusix. Had to delete client files and restart SageTV, but I count it as minor problems. If the installation instructions were more detailed than what is currently there, we would probably have a lot less people complaining.
Installation instructions should probably be as follows:

Download SageMC Full installation (take out the upgrade package)
Shut Down SageTV Server, or Client. Wherever you are installing SageMC
Extract files, allowing overwrite of everything.
Backup Client Files, and delete them
Restart SageTV
Restart Client, or Extenders
Configure interface, and select SageMC theme.

Then why did it work for some (me for instance) to just use the upgrade version? I didn't need to delete any client files or anything like that.

Just to test I just restored an image on my test PC to the old version of SageMC so I would be starting from the pre-6.4.8 version

The followed these steps (for upgrade):
  • downloaded the SageMC upgrade version
  • Shut down Sage and SageTV Service
  • Extracted the SageMC Upgrade files into SageTV\SageTV\
  • Restarted SageTV (& service)
  • From the SageMC Settings menu I select "load STV" and browsed to SageMC_169.xml
  • Selected Yes from the prompt
  • Restarted Extenders
That was it - all worked fine for me following those steps

Smooth as silk! And everything seems so much faster. Just a straight upgrade.

Can't wait to try HText.

Thanks!

You left an option off...installed without problems, clean install of SageMC, experienced with SageMC

That is when I followed the directions. I took a comment somewhere that the UI had to be closed, to mean that I could copy the software into the folder with Sage (non service mode) sitting in the tray still. This did not work well. Closed Sage, recopied all files, and restarted Sage. This worked excellently. This is non-client setup.

I dont know if this helps any, but I always copy on top of an existing working installation of sageTV/sageMC using the full installation package of sageMC... of course, with sageTVservice.exe and sageTV.exe not loaded in memory. I've gotten a successful "upgrade" every time.

I should know better but I upgraded SageMC about an hour after upgrading the video card so now I am not sure what might be causing this. I now have a problem when I skip forward that it occasionally freezes the screen for 10-60 seconds then suddenly returns like nothing happened. Maybe once in a 10hour show. Can still alt-tab and use windows. I suspect it is the new ATI HD 3450 video card but would be interested if anyone with a similar experience.

SageMC appears to be working perfectly.

SageMC settings menu blank

SageMC installation itself wasn't a problem (unzip and copy), but
I'm having a problem on Vista32: when SageTV is launched NOT
as Administrator, SageMC Settings menu appears blank - just empty
blue background.
I'd run as Administrator, but then I get another problem: in full-screen
mode video is clipped: ~1/3 right and bottom
parts of the screen are black, video is not scaled within the visible
region, it's just clipped. That's not a SageMC issue, of course.

VirtualStore in Vista so sucks - don't know how many people it helped,
but it has definitely annoyed a lot of others (I know a few).
