No DVD cursor or subtitles

When I play a DVD I don't get any cursor on the DVD menu. I can select Play or Options or whatever, by moving the arrows and guessing where the cursor is. Also, if I turn subtitles on, I don't see anything.

I've tried sage's own decoders and Cyberlink's PDVD codecs, with Default/Overlay/VMR9 but get the same problem.
I have manually added the Microsoft MPEG codecs to my properties file, and these do display the cursor and subtitles fine, but the video with these codecs is very poor - jumpy and tearing.

Is there some other setting I can change to get the cursor and subtitles to render correctly with Sage's or Cyberlink's codecs?

Sage's decoder doesn't play commercial dvd's.If you paid for and have a legitimate copy of PDVD 8 it shoud work for you. Mine does. Make sure you have chosen PDVD 8 in the Detailed Setup-DVD and choose VMR9.

Yeah, the Cyberlink codecs play it fine, but I can't get any kind of graphical overlay (cursor or subtitles) with either Overlay or VMR9. Just wondering if anyone else has the problem with these or any other codecs... is there some registry setting or some other Sage setting that will get them working?
I should add, if I play the DVDs with PowerDVD itself then the menus/subtitles work fine.

I had the same issue. The only decoder I could get to work was the NVIDIA PureVideo decoder.
