Ripped DVD's on remote share error

Whenever I try to play a ripped DVD on my remote share, a dialog box pops up with an 'Error accessing the files'. It only happens with DVD's. Anyone have any experience with this? MPG's stutter, but AVI's play just fine.

The DVD's are all ripped to a VIDEO_TS subfolder under a folder with the DVD name, but none of the VOBs or any other files can be seen.

What do you mean by "remote share"? Are you accessing from a client?

No, I have SMB shares on a server that are mapped to the Sage PC and added to the Media Center Import Directories.

I read this in the manual:

"SageTV Client needs to be able to read the DVD files directly in order to play hard drive based DVDs. To accomplish this, either 1) the import directory will need to be a UNC path and the client PC must have permission to access that UNC path, or 2) the client PC will need to map a drive letter to match the same drive letter where the server PC imported the DVD."

And I believe my setup matches #1, otherwise I wouldn't even be able to map the shares?

Condition #2 seems a little ambiguous.

The simplest way to explain it is that the path must be identical on the client as it is on the server. If the server sees the movie at D:\Moviename, it must be accessable as d:\Moviename on the client.

Try running Sage NOT as a service and see if that fixes the problem....

Hmmm. On the remote box, they're all under F:\Movies and each one has it's own top level folder with a VIDEO_TS underneath.

So, each of those need to be mapped to the local machine as a separate drive in order for Sage to run them? Could they all be in one folder on the remote box that is mapped as one local drive? Sorry if I'm not getting this, but it seems much more complicated than it should be.

No luck. I stopped the service & restarted Sage. It reverts back to the non-SageMC gui and even shows the DVD's separately from the other videos, but nothing happens when you try to play them.

No, it means you need to map drives on the client such that F:\Movies takes you to the same place as it does on the server.

The easiest way to solve the problem is to just use UNC paths instead of drive letters, ie:

\\server\Movies
