MediaMVP and ripped DVDs - color question
I'm seeing a small problem with the MediaMVP playing dvds ripped to the hard drive. The color red looks really bright in movies. Green looks a tad bright as well but not nearly as noticable as the reds. It appears almost saturated to a high extent. Recorded TV and Live TV looks great through the MVP and I love it.
So, is this normal? Is there something that could be done to remedy it? Under normal circumstances I could probably make some adjustments on the TV itself but as of right now the TV the MediaMVP is hooked up to there are no adjustments that can be made. |

BOING
I could do with an answer to this as well. All the colours on both my MCPs are too vivid when compared to all the other sources. |

I'm having similar issues using the HD100. I've got a new 32in CRT (lets not get into the wholde LCDvCRTvPlasma thing this was all I could afford ) and the colour is terrible along with the contrast. I just changed from an old cheap CRT where the contrast was fine. Now I all I see are shadows everywhere. I'm wondering if you can adjust the colour/contrast on the HD100 or in the source as the original post asked?
Thanks, Garmpe |

The MediaMVP's are known to be considerably on the Red side. This is just how they are. I've noticed it a bit less red on S-video, but then that could just be the tv I was comparing it on. If you can, your tv might be able to reduce the color coming into its input (I know one of my LCD's, has this option, so I have just set it to "cool" and it remedied the problem on that input).
As far as the HD100, that does not have the this issue. Check your manual. Most tv's have a High, medium and low saturation. My CRT RCA television defaults to high, and I just had to reset it to medium and the problem went away (which was not a problem with the HD100 as an MVP is hooked to my RCA, but rather my DVD player).

Okay, you are right, it isn't all. One of mine shows quite a bit of redness to it, and the other isn't nearly as bad. I think my older model was the worse one (came with the 32? button remote). The image is still considerably better even with the redness than I ever could get with a vid card (svideo or composite connection anyway).

If you haven't already I would suggest getting some kind of calibration DVD. They will step you through getting the contrast and brightness on the TV adjusted properly. This helped out quite a bit on my TV. I still have a 32" SDTV that I've had for several years. I can't wait till I can afford an HDTV though.
