The Endless Swirl ! Help
The only thing that I don't like about SageTV, is that when it has trouble tuning into a channel due to loss of signal, as would be the case with a satellite setup during the rain, it hangs on the "Tuning Into" pop-up window with the "hour glass" now "swirling circle".
I've been told that the stop button on the remote stops this hang and lets you return to the guide, but it doesn't work for me. There is a time-out setting under the setup, but that doesn't seem to do anything either. How do you fix this so that Sage becomes responsive to the remote again ? Right now the only solution is to force quit sage or reboot. -S

Re: "I've been told that the stop button on the remote stops this hang and lets you return to the guide".
I'm the guilty party. I meant to say the "Back" button let me out and back to the guide. It's been over a month since I had this problem but you should try that. Hope someone else has a better suggestion. You should let us know what tuner you are using and maybe that'll bring some helpful comments.

Thanks, neither of those worked. It's so bad that I'm seriously considering dumping Sage and going with something else because every time it happens I have to reboot. Does anyone else have any other suggestions ?

Have you contacted SageTV tech support so they can either offer a suggestion or get more info about the issue? If it can be reproduced, the interface can be changed to account for that.
If a fix is needed, then for now you could try telling the show to record & make sure it starts recording before trying to watch it. - Andy

Have a look at the last line of Opus4's signature.
