Question about 6.4.8 behavior
I just updated to 6.4.8 (from 6.4.3). I don't think I changed any settings, but something has changed in the behavior and I am wondering if it's a core change with the update, or something I did.
When I reboot the server, the Sage "flower" icon is in the system tray. "SageTVService.exe" is listed in processes, everything is fine. Viewing from my HD Extenders is fine. But when I open the Sage UI on the server (it opens immediately), the icon disappears from my system tray. This adds "SageTV.exe" in my processes, as a separate listing from "SageTVService.exe". When I close the UI on the server, "SageTV.exe" disappears from the processes. "SageTVService.exe" is still there, so everything is still working (recording, allowing me to watch from an extender, etc.). There is no icon in the system tray. Then when I reopen the UI on the Server, I get the splash screen and all of the "loading up" data flashes at the bottom, which takes a while. It is as if I had completely shut Sage down and started it back up from scratch. And the icon never returns to the system tray, no matter what. Previously (before my 6.4.8 install), the icon always stayed in the system tray - and could be used to shut down service, etc. (right-clicking on it). And when the icon was there, clicking on my desktop shortcut to open the UI would open it immediately, with no splash screen and no loading up. Was this a software change? Or am I missing a setting somewhere? The only thing I can think of is the "Server" enable/disable - I don't remember what I had before. I don't have any client PCs, but if I disable the Sage "Server" option, it disables my HD Extenders, right? So don't I have to keep that enabled?

"Server" and "service" are not the same thing. "Server" is what enables your clients and extenders to connect. "Service" is what enables Sage to start at bootup (before Windows login) and record in the background without starting the UI.
The UI does have a mode in which you can minimize it to the system tray. But clicking the X button in the upper right corner doesn't do that; it really closes the app. It also sound like you might have been using the SageTray plugin and are confusing that with the built-in "minimize to tray" function.

There is also an (old) option in Detailed Setup -> "Action to take when SageTV Window is closed". You can tell it to sleep or exit the app. It sounds like it is set to exit.

I guess that must have been a setting that was reset upon upgrade....
