h264 sound sqealing!

hello all,
Another VMC convert here, back to the world of an OS that works.....mmmmn xp.

Anyway, I am having a go at putting my sagetv together and i am having an issue with my h.264 audio.

i can play it in graphedit and it says video going to cyber video rendering.
audio goes to ac3 and then default direct sound device. goes to my receiver which detects the DTS soundtrack

plays in wmp9 (havent bothered to install any higher yet). when i play in wmp it again shows using cyberlink and ac3. detects the dts soundtrack

only codecs i have installed are xvid, ac3, flac, and powerdvd7ultra.

sage plays my ripped dvds fine, avi's fine.

try and play my bladerunner h264 rip and the audio squeels at me like its playing very hi pitched torture noise at me. in sagetv detailed options i have it set to use directshow for mpeg4 and mpeg2audio decoder filter is ac3 and default in the audio renderer.

hope thats enough info and i am just making stupid error. haved tried playing around with settings but cannot get it to play.

thanks
jb

Don't know if this will help, I had an audio problem where it sounded awful. I had to turn the volume on my PC up to 100% and it was fine, so I basically control my volume with the TV volume, I leave the PC volume to max.

Also open up the file in graphedit, then double click the AC3 Filter, and change the audio settings, try 2.0 or AS IS, if none of the speaker settings work you can control the different elements in the mixer and stuff.

thanks H,

unfortunately not the problem. everything plays fine in wmp and in graphedit.
in ac3 filter i am just using pass through for ac3 and dts.

but as soon as i try and play in sage it makes this incredibly horrible loud squealing noise soundig a bit like random digital noise - its not just plain white noise hiss its really harsh.

What MPEG Audio Renderer and Codec are you using in Sage (they set their own and sometimes don't even pay attention to the default). Are you configured to use DShow in Sage (again I don't think this is the default). I don't remember all the setting titles because I only use HD100s now and am thankfully past codec hell. I remember the problems well and even have nightmares about them every once in a while.
