Digiguide, Birtles Grabber and Channel Mapping -for UK

SageTV 6.3 & XMLTV

I've started using Digiguide as the data source and using Birtles grabber 3.x to generate epgdata.xml. (after 2 plus years of success with Radio Times and Birtles)

I have a Virgin Samsung STB so I don't care about Channel Frequencies.
I just need to know the channel number for each TV channel. I have a USB UIRT that changes channel on the STB based on the Number at the LHS of each Channel in the program guide (eg 101 is BBC1, 116 is ITV3)

The Digiguide Windows software can be configured so that you can list only the channels you receive for your particular Virgin TV package and it knows the channel numbers.
Birtles then processes this file. It outputs the xmltv file in the correct order.

However, the file is unable to fully configure the Program Guide.
It does not automatically set the Physical and Logical number of each channel eg to 101 and 116. They all set to channel 0
This is tedious and error prone to setup with say 50 channels.

Question 1
Is there a way to do this based on the data in epgdata.xml?

I came across this from 2006 Demedius' importer
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17363
This will output a file called xmltv_channel_ids.txt to c:\program files\SageTV\SageTV\.

Does this still work?

Question 2
I also have a problem with some channels not appearing in the Program Guide although the epgdata.xml file contains the channel

Does the Sage.properties control this or are there Registry entries as well?
In epg/channel_lineups/1=6354,0;6529,0;6739 where do the none zero numbers come from?
I'm assuming each map to a TV channel.

Finally
I'm aware of LM Gestions "XMLTV Importer for SageTV" but due to my incorrect installation it took hours to run and failed.
