HD PVR connected with hdmi and component issue.
Has anyone come up with a possible fix for being able to have both an hdmi connection hooked up as well as component. For many cable boxes the component port is turned off when hdmi is connected. I would like to be able to watch tv using my hdmi cable as well as record a show through the component connection.
Ok I just tried something so I think this might work. I disconnected the hdmi cable from the tv, but not from the cable box. This allowed the component signal to still work. I think what I will do is get a hdmi switch. When I want to use component I will switch the hdmi port to a different input so it de-activates the cablebox hdmi.
