Forum software has been upgraded

The forum will be closed on Thursday, August 28, starting between 10-11 AM Pacific Time (1-2 PM Eastern) for maintenance. It will be closed for an hour or more while the forum software is upgraded.

After the upgrade, the one person who returned to using a password that is the same as their username will no longer be able to do that again. I really thought the lesson would have been learned from the recent SPAM in PMs problem. But, vBulletin now has a way to prevent it.

There are other new forum features, but that is one of the more important ones.

The forum has now been upgraded.

As mentioned above, one of the biggest changes is not allowing an account's username to be the same as its password. Simple passwords like 'password' are also not allowed.

IS there a way to stay logged in all day? If there is, I haven't been able to find it

When you log in, there is a check box for that. If that doesn't work, maybe you've got the forum's cookies blocked.

I checked cookies and all seems as it should be, but I can't find the checkbox you mentioned regarding login times. Do you have any other suggestions?

I'm just talking about the "Remember Me?" checkbox right next to where you enter your user name & password, but maybe that isn't what you mean. You will always get logged out of the forum after a certain period of inactivity; that checkbox just controls whether you need to enter your user name & password each time you return.

ah, do you mean for whichever particular computer you're logging in from?

I was hoping there was a way to tell the forum just to keep me logged in (based on my ip address), but I guess that option doesn't exist, yes?

The forum's cookies are stored on the local PC, so you would have to check the box on each PC where you logged in at your house.
