Need to grab guide data from different digital station, possible?

I'm getting my local networks in HD over clear QAM on Comcast cable. These stations get no guide data. However, their guide data IS present in the higher-numbered Comcast stations (the ones you use if you have a STB). I'd like to get this guide data to the clear QAM stations that I'm using (6-1, 11-1, etc.). Is this possible? Thanks.

Could you enable the higher number channels, disable the lower number channels, and then remap the higher numbers to the lower numbers?

So if the STB would show 36 but in QAM it's 6-1... couldn't you disable 6-1, enable 36, and then remap 36 to be 6-1?

That could work. Let's use a real example.

NBC HD...QAM picks it up as physical channel 107-11-1, but automatically places it at 11-1....so I see 11-1 WPXIDT [107-11-1]. Does this mean 107-11-1 is the physical channel and 11-1 is Sage's automatic logical channel remap? The Comcast STB channel for this is 211. So you're saying to disable the lower one, enable 211, and map it to 107-11-1? Would that be "remap to different physical channel"?

BFisher is close... so close.

This is all in the SageTV Manual .pdf that came with your software.

When you performed the SCAN function in CHANNEL SETUP for your DIGITAL TUNER CARD, SageTV couldn't match the newly detected channels with a STATION CALL SIGN so it added them as additional unmatched stations.

You need to use the REMAP functions to match/merge them with their Station Call Sign: in Channel Setup, find the working channel and use REMAP : Map Different Station to this Physical Channel ...and find the correct Station Call Sign

You can also use REMAP : Map to Different LOGICAL Channel ...to assign it to something more preferable.

Logical Channel = EPG Lineup channel (think remote control number)
Physical Channel = Tuning channel; examples: 7002 Satellite, 2 cable tv, 2.1 or 2-1 or 2-1008-1 for digital tuners

EDIT: we cross posted. YES, you *could* also DISABLE 11-1, take your PHYSICAL CHANNEL info (107-11-1) and assign it to the Call Sign at 211 in your EPG lineup. It is a little cleaner. Yea, REMAP to a different PHYSICAL CHANNEL.

I wonder why, if it *knew* that is was WPXIDT, that it didn't match it? Unless Zap2it really knows it as WPXI-DT or WPXI-HD.

Thanks! That did it. I was looking at the manual but wasn't quite sure about it. I mapped the higher EPG stations to the lower working QAM stations, then changed the logical numbers of those lower QAM stations back to the higher EPG ones to match what I'm used to. Seems to work well.

Also, what files do I need to backup to retain these remappings? Just the .frq's?

Tuner setup information, along with channel mappings, are stored in sage.properties

Some people like to back up the ENTIRE SageTV working directory (or directories if running on Vista OS)
The essential files are:
wiz.bin
wiz.bak
sage.properties
*.scn
*.frq

If people have a separate Tuner Setup process they may want those files as well...
HDHR: Digital Cable.xml; Digital Antenna.xml

You should also review this FAQ for any other additions
