Audio dropps out
Hi folks,
Here is what I am dealing with. I have the sage Software version 6.3.10.166 I have what I think is a fairly good PC for a pvr but I have had a really rough road getting it to work right. For a while it would start recording and just deteriorate to a screen with green vertical lines and the sound would go to sort of a howling noise then it would just freeze up. At this point the file was no longer watchable, even in Media Player 11, it would not load after this occurred. I had several (23 or 24) emails back and forth with George over at Sage who had me send him many logs and tried many different ways to get it to work. Each time there would be a little change but no stability. I eventually uninstalled the software, formatted the partition in 64K blocks as advised and then re-installed. Also when I re-installed it gave me the option of using the guide with extended basic from Time Warner. I have this service and it did indeed install all the channels I see on the TV. But when I recorded shows the channels and the shows did not match. For instance, a show may say 20/20 on CBS, but it would record something entirely different. I uninstalled Sage again and just installed the Time Warner basic guide this time. Now I get the right shows, but I loose about 200 channels above channel 99. Now to the heart of why I am posting. It has develped a new problem. when I record a show, it plays back with no audio, or the audio dropps out during the show. Its about 80 percent no audio and 20 percent drop out. I am wondering if my Happauge card is going bad? Has anyone else fought this and won? If the opinion is that the card is going, does anyone have a recommendation for a new card? Here are the system specs from the system status screen Software version v6.3.10.166 Java version 1.6.0_07 Current stv file:Sagetv3.xml (version 6.3.10.2) current stv theme:standard sdtv display 1280x768 host name ******** IP address ********* available video diskpace: 119.71 gb recoverable video diskspace:2.05 gb useded video diskspace;13.28 GB total video content: 3hrs 27 min used library diskspace: 9.91g total library content:2 days 16 hours 50 min last epg update:saturday august 23rd next EPG update: 10 hours and 39 min recording:nothing on Hapuppauge wintv PCR PCI II capture(Happuage 350) default quality:best watching:nothing instance uptime:20 min total uptime:3 days 2 hours 28 min JVM Heap size (used/totalmax): 129MB/136MB/200MB system config details country: USA language:English time zone:PDT video format:NTSC capture devices available capture devise 1: Happauge winTV PVR PCI II Capture configured input details input 1:Happauge winTV PVR PCI II Capture functioning:true Network Encoder:false; RF Channel:N/A; Cabl/Antenna: Cable; EPG Lineup:time Warner Cable - Chino; Tuner control:N/A; Audio Input N/a -------------------- skipping the directory information ----------------------------- intelligent recording:disabled sync system clock with sagetv server:enabled show mouse icons:enabled aspect ration (all the same) Horiz. stretch:100% offset:0 Vert. stretch:100% offset:0 Overscan setting:left edge:11, Horiz. scale 97.5% top edge:13, Vrt cale 98.6% default recording quality (overall):best default recoding quality (Happauge winTV PVR PCI II Capture):good video renderer: default mpgeg2 video decoder:filter:default audio render:default mpg2 audio decoder: filter: default audio playback delay: 0 milliseconds DVD drive: yes DVD video renderer:VMR9 dvd video decoder filter:default remote control configuration:45 button Hauppauge remote sagetv server:disabled sage tv media extender and placeshifter:disabled load at windows startup:no (I have this manually in my startup folder, sage suggest I not run it as a service) 3d acceleration:disabled overlay color keying:enabled service mode: disabled java classes loaded at startup:none input plugin classes:none media player plugin class:none media player mpg plugin class:none media player mpgbuf plugin class:none OSD rendering plugin class:none computer specs <<< System Summary >>> > Mainboard : Asus P5K-E > Chipset : Intel P31/P35 > Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2666 MHz > Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM ) > Video Card : ATI Technologies Inc RADEON HD 3600 SERIES > Hard Disk : ST3200826A (200 GB) > Hard Disk : Disk (80 GB) > Hard Disk : WD (500 GB) > CD-Rom Drive : CD-ROM Drive > Monitor Type : Panasonic PANASONIC-TV - (42 inch HDTV 720p) > Network Card : Marvell Semiconductor (Was: Galileo Technology Ltd) Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller > Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 > DirectX : Version 9.0c (December 2007) I know its a lot of specs...sorry..but if anyone has any idea why the audio is not working correctly, I would appreciate if you would fill me in.
