Question HD Channels not working with Sage TV Client

When trying to view BBC HD or LuxeHD (freesat) using Sage TV Client, I get the following error message::

There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217): There
was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for
playback.

Im using the trial version of Sage TV for WHS.

Can anyone help with a solution??

Thanks.

I'm not sure if the Sage Decoder supports the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC that the new BBC is being broadcast in. Do you have any other decoders installed in the system that could be used? (PowerDVD or ffdshow)?

I don`t have any decoders installed, I was assuming sage handled it internally. If I were to download something (like FFdshow), would Sage TV Client pick up on it automatically, or do you have t configure the Sage software to ue a specific decoder?

EDIT:: I tried installing the latest version of FFdshow and i`m getting the same error message.

For sage to use the installed encoder, make sure you've got the MPEG4 option under the Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Audio / Video set to DirectShow, and NOT SageTV. This SHOULD allow sage to use ffdshow to decode the files.

Also, make sure H.264/AVC is enabled in ffdshow's Codec configuration screen (in ffdshow video decoder configuration).

EDIT: Also, what version of ffdshow did you get? it is often hard to get the 'latest version', as there are so many varrying sources. I'd recommend getting the latest beta from http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/. If you got them from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow, then you definately didn't get a version that supports H.264/AVC w/MBAFF deinterlacing.

Thanks for suggestions so far, followed your instructions and still no joy

MPEG4 Playback in sage client is set to "DirectShow" and downloaded the version of FFdshow you suggested. Gettng the same error message as before.

I`ll download the trial version of PowerDVD to see if that works.
