Thanks for the replies, guess I will wait for a beta to address the BBC HD sound issue and hopefully this may then give me access to ITV HD as well.

I have tried 6.5.13 as well and have no BBC HD either. I also get random jamming during playback like some other people. I am thinking of reverting back to the live version. If anyone has any other suggestion I would be very grateful to hear it.

I think the new DVB code is still a few weeks away so its a case of either going back to a version where it worked or waiting.

I can't remember what changed from one version to another so I'll sit patiently as just about everything on HD is also on one of the non-HD channels too.

Sorry but I'm using 6.5.13 and I get BBC-HD and ITV-HD fine, even ac3 works on BBC-HD sometimes!

So you get BBC HD regardless of the audio stream they are broadcasting?

The issue typically is a blank/black screen when they only transmit a single non AC3 audio stream. If they transmit two audio streams I can watch it fine. ITV HD is more of an issue with my setup I think.

Hi Doc, have you heard this direct from Sage via a support ticket then?

Yes, Qian emailed me on 16th March and said that the current recording code was due to retire in about a month and the new code handles DVB streams much better - he hopes this will fix a lot of issues.

Judging development timescales is like pinning the tail on a donkey while blindfolded so I wouldn't hold him to an exact date.

I've sent him a sample of the problematic BBC-HD recordings. I don't know about ITV-HD as I've hardly every tried it.

I never get a blank screen and it usually defaults to the mp2 track but sometimes a can change the audio to ac3, sometimes I can't. The preview seems ok as does Robin Hood but an actual programme I watch, heroes, I can't get ac3.

I got an e-mail direct from Qian saying that they are working on new DVB code that would be a couple of months away.

I wonder why your setup works then and for a few others it doesn't

Maybe its an issue with codecs loaded on the server but I thought Sage only used internal ones.

Are you watching on a PC client or HD200 ? my pc client can view/hear BBC HD, its just too stuttery to watch (My CPU cant cope) My HD200 just gets a blank screen & no sound on stereo broadcasts, works fine on AC3 broadcasts

Doc - can you pop over and do my garden when you're done ?

Cheers !

No codec issues, I have a WHS server running sagetv and a HD100 for viewing. I have PC clients too but I only use them for testing. They also work with BBC HD, ITV HD and channel 4 HD

So when and how did you fix BBC HD as you state it works all the time now?

That post was a while ago and several betas ago. Let me make it clear, I have no problems with BBC HD video but I do have problems with the ac3 audio track sometimes coming up a mp4 track. Since ITV HD only has one audio track, that is ac3, I have no problems with it.

Wish we could work out what is different about your system as everyone else seems to have issues with BBC HD so you have the key to resolving it Any ideas ?
