Cannot view both QAM and analog in Hauppaug 1600

Sage will not let me view both QAM and analog at the same time.
It shows up in the program guide

I am using the hauppaug 1600.

It seems to work fine in WINTV

I will capture both when I do a scan.

Can you be a little clearer?

Do you have both sources setup in SageTV, each with a DIFFERENT EPG lineup (non-digital for analog, digital for TS QAM)?

-Composite
-Composite_2
-S-Video
-S-Video_2
-TV tuner

Both sources set up ok

I have tried with and without a Haupp 150 with the same result

Latest drivers installed

I tried changing pci slots with same results

I can see both in WIN TV ok

Can you please describe the issue in more detail.

Like:
A: I can view the Analog, but the digital shows blank?
B: While an analog program records I can't watch or record the digital?
C: I can't record two shows at once on the HVR-1600, one scheduled analog and one digital... the second program is... what? Doesn't show in the schedule list? Records black?

Yes, you said both tuners show up in the program guide... but the 'tuners' themselves don't actually show up, the EPG Channel Lineup for each tuner shows up in the Guide.

While you are in the Channel Setup for the ANALOG tuner, then the DIGITAL tuner, can you click the VIEW button and see video for your active channels?

The people on this forum like to be helpful, but can only do so if we understand the problem.

It sounds like you could have a bad driver install, or even a bad HVR-1600.
Here's what I would do next:

- Please make sure you are running SageTV v6.3 or higher
- Let us know what version.

1. Remove all of the Capture/Tuner Cards
2. Run the HCWClear program from Hauppauge
3. Reboot
4. Put the HVR-1600 in an available slot
5. Install the latest driver from the Hauppauge Website.
6. Reboot
7. Start SageTV and in Channel Setup verify that you can VIEW a program from the Analog and the Digital Tuner
8. TEST:

A. From the GUIDE, select a program from your DIGITAL lineup and set it to RECORD. Let it record for 5 minutes; then,
B. LiveTV an ANALOG lineup channel. Watch for a few minutes.
C. Go into your recordings and find the Digital recording and play it back.

Did the Digital Recording work?
Did it get interrupted at the 5 minute mark?

Let us know what happened

1. Installed DTV saw prevew in setup all channel worked fine

2. Installed analog saw preview in setup all analog channel worked fine but all digital channels show NO DATA. I checked entire line up all digital gone.

Deleted analog tuner all digital chanels back again and work fine.

Recorded digital for 5 min no problems with playback.

Set up analog tuner again priview ok but all digital chanals gone again.

I exchanged board with another new board with exactly same results.

First, have you done the SageTV® [ Request Support ] yet? You may want to start that process. Sage Support will email you back with instructions for gathering logs for analysis and troubleshooting.

Second, I feel like there's something we're overlooking, and I'm confused by something you've said here:

Where do you see the phrase, NO DATA

- In the GUIDE?
- On screen, where the DIGITAL broadcast should display?

When you "Installed analog", what is the exact name of the EPG Lineup you chose?
When you "Installed DTV", what is the exact name of the EPG Lineup you chose?
How many QAM Channels does a SCAN detect on the DTV Tuner?

SMALL TEST #2

1. Set the HVR-1600 up only using DIGITAL, remove Analog Tuner from Sage tuner list (use digital only)
2. Install the PVR-150 and set up for ANALOG
(with each tuner set to use a differently named EPG Lineup)

Do both tuners work?
Or does the PVR-150 work and the Digital channels not work?
What does selecting a Digital channel do?

Good News.

While trying your suggestions Sage keep crashing. I deleted all of Sage and the folder from the program directory. I tried an older version and with the exact same problems, and it keep crashing.

So I formatted and reinstalled my OS WIN XP.

1. Installed the 1600 with drivers.

2. Installed the analog portion first. all stations showed in EPG.
and it worked fine.

3. Installed digital portion, scanned for channels , It found about 40

All digital chanels now show up in EPG

The digital now worked ok and the analog also.

I tried your recording and watching tests and they work fine also.

I was getting brave now and installed the PVR 150 to control the CBL Box.

and it worked also also.

One thing I did notice the IR Blaster would only worked plug in to the 1600 but it controled the PVR 150.

I do have one more question

I have a bunch of digital chanels ex 46.1 46.2 46.3 that show the words no data in the EPG but there is digital programs there. If I try to record any of them it records forever because there is no programs listed.

Can these channels be made to show program data somehow.?

I am still not sure what the problem was.

Yea! Wiping the OS and reinstalling is the last thing anyone likes to recommend but when it comes to driver issues it's the one thing that will fix it.

If the channel is Pay-Per-View or Video-On-Demand then NO, it just is.

If it's a normally broadcast QAM channel, then YES. You just need to match the found channel to the correct station already in the guide lineup.

1. Find the Station Call Sign/Letters associated with the channel (watch the channel and wait for IDs, or find it using another TV)
2. In Source > Channel Setup, see if that Station Call Sign already exists
3. Go to your working video channel and use REMAP: Map Different Station to this Physical Channel >> locate the correct call sign
4. You can also use REMAP to assign a LOGICAL CHANNEL of your liking (used in the GUIDE to arrange the lineup).
5. IF the Station doesn't exist in your current lineup you can ADD the channel. The instructions are in the SageTV manual .pdf included with the software ...or search the forum for Add Channel.
