Audio unbalanced between STV & HDHR

Sorry if this has been covered before, but....

When recording (or watching) video with Sage 6.4.6, my STB (Moto 6200) audio is *much* lower than either of my HDHR tuners (0 or 1). Is there a way to adjust (balance) the audio output of these devices? They all show up as WAVE audio in my windows mixer so there is no independent control over their volume.

Thanks!

My forum search for AUDIO LEVELS or SOUND LEVELS returned the following:

Boost audio coming from STB RCA output? (Hauppauge PVR-150 input adjust)
Increase volume for PVR-500 (Registry or AC3 output adjust)
Voice volume very low in audio in HD

There are several things that can effect audio levels, like capture card input settings, if the audio was encoded as 2.0 (stereo) or 5.1 (Surround Sound), and how the playback decoder treats the audio stream.
Try selecting another MPEG2 Audio Decoder and see if it makes a difference (Detailed Setup > Audio/Video).

Another alternative is to see if your capture card has an option for adjusting the audio input level through it's add-on software. (see forum links above for hints)

Hmmm.... my forum search turned up 125 posts (audio levels) and 75 posts (sound levels). I guess I don't quite understand how to search properly. Thanks for narrowing it down for me.

Turns out the STB compression was set to "light". When set to "none" the sound is comparable to the HDHR tuners.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry, my search turned up about the same number of posts but most just seemed like repeats with no suggestions so they didn't count.

Then there's that, too. I always forget that some STBs let you set compression, expansion or some other 'sound enhancement' on the output. Some boxes have options of setting the L/R outputs as fixed, or variable (controlled by the STB remote).

Glad to hear you solved your issue.
