6.4.x & ATI Catalyst version

I just picked up an ATI 3450 (Sapphire) for $20(!) after rebate for my server. Something to replace an aging X800. It's amazing that this card does H.264 hardware acceleration on HD-PVR files for this price (CPU around 30% with VMR9 under XP). Oh and I've found things run more stable by disabling the Catalyst A.I., yet uses a bit more CPU.

Anyway, I was wondering what Catalyst version everyone was using with their 3xxx or 4xxx series cards. I have 8.6 installed with this card because that's what it came with. I'm thinking of going to 8.7 because I'm getting occasional "VPU Recover" errors at random. Not when a video is playing or anything, just totally at random; maybe once a day. Sometime the screen breaks up before it happens. Odd because this never happens on my 1650XT card, which is running 8.7 on a different PC.

I've got a 3650 and the 'About' says it's ATI Catalyst Control Center Version 2008.0328.2322.39969, a Microsoft .NET Framework-based application.

I was considering this card also as an upgrade to an x800xl. Love the price but I've seen concerns regarding 1080i deinterlacing capablility. Some reported that acceleration for interlaced material is done in the shaders and that the card is underpowered for this. Has anyone experienced good results with interlaced material?
