Where is a good place to buy network cable

I am moving in a few weeks and will have to crawl up in the attick to run new network cables for my HDX. I have decided to run 2 cables to the living room and 1 cable to each bedroom for future use. I think I would be better off buying a box of cable, I guess 1000'. What cable should I get and where should I buy it? It will only be used for HD extenders and/or media extenders. The extra for the living room will be for my PS2, which will never be used.

I would get Cat5e. I have heard that Cat6 is finicky and Cat5 won't support GigE.

Aloha,
Mike

If you don't want to buy over the internet. Home Depot is actually reasonable for cabling. They are obviously more expensive than internet purchases, but nowhere near places like Best Buy.

Fry's Electronics has pretty reasonably priced cables also if you have one locally.

I ordered my 1000' box of Cat 5E from newegg.com They generally have good prices. Be aware though that if you're getting a big box you're going to need to get RJ-45 ends and the tools to put them on.

Thanks! Yeah I have a bunch of ends and the crimp tool. I bought a pack of like 500 ends a few years ago.

I got a box of 1000' a few years ago, I wondered if I was insane for buying so much, but it ran out and I had to buy a second box.... guess it wasn't that bad of an idea.

That's what I'm thinking. I used to have a couple of partials I got from school a few years ago, probably around 500' total and I have since used it all.
