Suggestions for Capping NFL games

Hey Guys,

I currently have sage TV and a hd100. I don't have a HD tuner yet.
I'd like to record all of my team's games this season, then convert them to mkv for storing on data dvds.

I've never done this before so I would like to know suggestions on what tuner would be best for this, then what would I do to edit out commercials? I'm guessing a recorded show in sagetv can be saved as .TS files? Please let me know if not.

I'm guessing I could load this .TS into a video editing proggie? Then go through the mkv instructions I guess I would find on one of the video sites? If any of you experts wanted to do this, or do, let me know what you would do. Thanks!

Your best bet is any tuner that supports clearQAM (HDHR, PVR-1800, etc.), edit out commercials with VideoRedo, and then convert with them to h.264 with automkv.

Are you in the local market for your team, or like me, do you have to pay directv a boat load of money every year for NFL Sunday Ticket? If the latter, you're going to need an HD-PVR to get the HD stream to your sage server.
