USB-UIRT question
I have my system record certain channels on DishNet using the USB-UIRT. Everything works fine, except DishNet goes into sleep mode at certain intervals and requires a remote control key press (Select key) to turn the unit back on.
Is there a way to tell SageTV to send this extra key before sending the change channel command? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you search for user m1abrams you will find info on using EventGhost to send IR via the USBUIRT to control channel changes. If you set that up you can easily add in a schedule for it to hit the "OK" button or whatever to keep it awake at predetermined times or at intervals.
It's more work but it's the only way aside from disabling that feature in the STB that I know of to fully resolve your issue. You could also prepend a button press before each channel change request but I have heard this is not as reliable as you may like (the STB may miss the second code while it is waking). |

As far as I can tell there is no way to turn that feature off.

What models are you using? I'm using a VIP211 and 2 311's and all had options to not go to sleep....

Try turning off the Nightly updates. This is what I had to do on my 622. After the 622 updates itself at 3 AM, then it power cycles itself. I believe this is the same for 322.

My Bell expressvu version also does not offer the option to turn off updates, only to change the time of the update. Temporarily, I have set update to 6am, and set an autotune for 6:59am, which has worked reliabky so far...there's nothing usually that i wach at that time, and for some reason you need to leave a significant amount of time for the update and reboot....I noticed it took 30min once, which was odd.
Someone mentioned that there was a prefix channel setting in sage (which i doubted): you would add the select button: search the forums, it's somewhat recent thread. If that's true, then that would be easy to do within sage. I'll get around to it eventually. Update: I found it in sagetv, see link: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...ghlight=prefix Ben

Anyone have the Dish211 and know if there is an option to turn off the auto-sleep and auto-updates?

I had decided on doing that when someone mentioned that the unit also goes to sleep if there is no activity in 4 hours. I am in the process of confirming that. The manual does not seem to make any mention of that.

follow-up on my USB-UIRT problem

I have not yet been able to confirm the after 4 hours sleep feature. It probably does not exist. If it does, another timer or two would solve that too. Thanks again to everyone who offered their suggestions.

Quick off topic question, apologies to the OP in advance:
I have one 211 w/r5000 and the dish absolute plan, and am thinking of adding another box or two. I am considering the 622, which if I understand correctly would allow me to attach one tuner to sage via r5000 or my HDPVR, and the other would be used by the Dish DVR, which we would consider as a sage backup (therefore not involved with my sage server at all) Those of you with 622's, how are they billed? Dish customer service is telling me that it would only be an additional charge of $5.98, not two separate charges as I had thoght because it has two tuners. Could someone check their bill thanks! //back on topic//
