QAM,Firewire, Guide setup.....Help please!
Hi,
Fairly new to Sage and have a problem I have not been able to find the answer to. My cable company is really lax when it comes to encrypting (QAM), or 5C (Firewire). On QAM I am able to receive channels 1-70 (basic cable equivalents) and 103,104,105,108 (HD Locals). I have had this working great. Last night I realized the I was able to receive all subscribed channels over Firewire as well. This is 1-70, 103-180 (HD's), and 400+. Sooo....what would be the best way to set up the guide since they both receive the same lineups, but can't both tune the same channels? My guide options are: Armstrong Basic (1-70) Armstrong Digital (1-70, 100-180, 400+) Armstrong Extended Digital (same as above but includes 180-200) |

What is your QAM tuner?
In the SageTV v6.4.5 beta, you can use the new option to copy a lineup so that it is separately configurable. I would do that if you don't have an HDHR. If you have an HDHR, I would set up the firewire tuner first using the digital lineup that fits your situation, then configure the HDHR QAM tuner w/o a lineup & it will match the channels form the other one automatically using the latest STV & HDHR software for its setup. - Andy

Great, thanks a lot! I hadn't considered that the way new beta can configure the HDhomerun would help this situation.
One more quickie. I would prefer SageTV use the HDhomerun first (if possible), does that mean I set it's tuner merit as a higher number, or lower? |

higher merit = higher priority.
