I just installed CoreAVC 1.7.0.0, and tried it out. My video is no longer freezing, but it's still extremely choppy. |

It was said earlier that the audio filter can sometimes affect video stuttering. I tried changing the audio filter to ffdshow by modding the properties file to show this:
videoframe/aac_audio_decoder_filter=ffdshow Audio Decoder As a result, the debug log shows it being called, but then on the graph, it seems to still be using ArcSoft: Sun 7/27 7:36:03.436 DShowPlayer setVideoDecoderFilter0(CoreAVC Video Decoder) called Sun 7/27 7:36:03.475 DShowPlayer setAudioDecoderFilter0(ffdshow Audio Decoder) called Sun 7/27 7:36:06.983 DShowGraphFilters=Video Renderer,Default DirectSound Device,Audio Decoder,VidRend,ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD,Video Decoder,SageTV MPEG2 Demultiplexer,F:\S-Data\CNNSundayMorning-296226-0.ts, Did I not make that change correctly? |

I can't remember if this has been mentioned but I've been reading elsewhere that recording 720p or 480p causes the HDPVR to drop frames every few seconds. I remember you saying that you're recording in 720p but I think you mentioned that you were getting the same stutter in 1080i. Just thought I'd mention this here though.

Since restarting the HD PVR fixed the combing issue, I'm now using 1080i. And CoreAVC does look good - but apparently there's a seperate bug where videos play smoothly until you skip/ff - then they get extremely choppy. I wonder if Sage is changing the index when it starts a video that's triggering this bug. But then again, I was getting stutter anyway even without it, so I have no idea at this point what to do. |

Recording 1080i works great on the HD100s but it was no good on the PC clients... too much stuttering. The freezing after ff/rw went away after I removed ffdshow.

so, once you've created a graph using only Arcsoft decoders, how does one get SageTV to use that graph?

I too had stuttering when ff/rw... I read a thread somewhere which told me that I needed to turn off hardware acceleration when using an ATI Radeon card. I did this and the stuttering went away. just an FYI to try.
