You mean yours doesn't already look like that?

I thought that is why we have custom menu layouts and stuff.

Hmm.. reflections, shadows, and other effects aren't support in SageMC (the way they are in Meedios). If you know of a way to make the videos section to show movie posters that way, I'd like to know how. As far as I know it's going to take major rework in SageMC to make this happen.

I think Maui Mike was working bring these capabilities to us; I'm guessing its not that easy or we would have seen it by now.

I know, I was just yanking your chain, or something like that. It would be a very cool improvement.

I know Mike was working on a method for creating reflections, but I think he hit a few walls. Sage really needs to step up and advanced graphics manipulations like reflections and skew straight into the core.

While I can't argue that the look is very nice, do people really believe that this is a usable format for viewing large movie collections? I used Xbmc for a couple of year, and within the last year they added this type viewing model, and I did try it because it looked cool, but I found that when I needed to scroll through many videos to get to the movie that I wanted, it was a pain. Granted it is nice to brag to the friends , but I'm not sure it's practical with more than 10 movies.

I agree. I've used SageMC and the default STV and the first thing I do is turn off the animations. Really speeds up the movements and selections.

This was exactly my reaction after seeing the screen shots. They are pretty, but don't seem all that practical.

BTW, I did actually get image reflections and skewing working, but there was a significant performance lag that made it impractical for on-the-fly generation. We haven't figured out a workable solution yet. Core support would be ideal.

Aloha,
Mike

Yep, that screen shot looks very cool. But as you say not very practical for large collections.
However I was thinking about this and thought you could have a three or four tier system with only the bottom level showing reflections. Other tiers image art would be slightly smaller than the main focus (bottom tier). When navigating with the right button films would move down from the second tier and the last film on the bottom row would drop off the screen. Moving with the left button would do the opersite with films being added from the bottom and the top tier would then lose a film per button push. Up and down buttons would whole rows but still keeping the real time reflections on the bottom row only.

Just a thought but it proberly doesnt make any sense other than in my head

Anyway I think its a bit beyond the current Sage system but maybe something to look forward to in the near future.
