PVR-350 and video card setup question

This will probably sound like a stupid question, but I'm a little confused on how to set up the video in my setup. I will be using this in my living room on a 60" Television. I understand the PVR-350 has a S-Video out that I would need to connect to my television. How does the video card output fit in? Will I be able to see my computer desktop through the 350? If not, could I send the video card s-video out to the s-video in on the 350? I won't have any other monitor besides my TV. My setup will be as follows: Athlon64 3200+, NForce3 motherboard, PVR-350. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks!

You won't see anything bug SageTV and video when the 350 is setup. You will need another video card with TV output for Windows desktop and other applications. Does your TV allow for separate inputs? Maybe you can send both to the TV and switch from there when you need to.

Thanks for the quick reply. My TV does have more inputs. I was afraid I might have to do that.

mlbdude,

I am thinking about building a PVR. I plan to use a mobo with integrated graphics and a PVR-350. I assume that I can connect a standard monitor to the video outputs to set the system up and then hook the PVR-350 svideo output to my tv for actual usage. Correct?

Of course, if I ever need to mess with the system I guess I would need to rehook-up the monitor (per your comments above)

This will work for LiveTV and TV recording, but you will need to use your motherboard's audio output if you want to listen to MP3s in the jukebox (there does not seem to be a way to orute through the 350 for this). Also, if you have any non-MPEG videos in your media library (say AVIs from your digital camera), you will either need to transcode them to MPEG or use the TVout from a graphics card. The 350's video out is for MPEG streams only. I assume the same will be true for still images once the support is added to 2.0
