Strange FF and Rewind behavior

I just finished watching Men in Black, recorded from either TBS or TNT recently. When I tried to jump ahead or back, I would end up at seemingly random points of the movie. Very strange and frustrating. This isn't the first time this has happened. I'll post more info or answer questions if folks are interested, but I'm curious if anyone has this problem. Thanks.

I'm not sure if you are describing the same thing, but you could see if this FAQ helps for future recordings.

I'm seeing something similar. Did you figure out what was causing this?

Now that football season is here I've started using my 30-sec FF button a lot to skip between plays. I'm seeing a problem where about half the time I use it the 30-sec skip doesn't skip 30 seconds, a lot of times it only skips forward by about 1/2 second and sometimes it skips forward ~20 seconds. I'm seeing similar problems with the RW 10-sec button. I see this on recordings from my analog tuner, my HDHR and my HD-PVR.

I'm not sure when this problem started happening as I don't typically use the 30-sec skip button a lot outside of watching football. I'm using the 6.4.8 release of SageTV, I have a backend PC in the office and a frontend client PC in the living room. I've tried using various MPEG decoders but I still see the problem.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this or fix it?
