HD decoder Question..help please

Hey,

I have I am looking at DishHD channels and was seeing which decoder works best for me.

I had CoreAVC but it stutter like heck, changed that the Mainconcept (trial) slow-motion for some reason, changed that to ArcSoft gr8.

Does SageTV work only with ArcSoft or something? I'd like to use CoreAVC if possible because for some reason ArcSoft has a problem that there is weird changes in picture quality its like tick-tock. tick its perfect then tock (slightly noticible) there are lines/pixels/clouding (not too apparent its like transparent).

And this problem I'm having with ArcSoft isn't just for HD but regular SD channels I see the same thing "reddish" (transparent/in the background kind of thing) coming back and forth. I changed the SD to Cyberlink, maybe I'll try Cyberlink for HD but I don't want to upgrade if it won't make a difference/ or it stutters like crazy or its slow-mo like mainconcept. I tried ffdshow and it was stutteringg even though when I play HD videos they're fine.

By the way when you use ffdshow as SD decoder the sagetv shows the circle of death when changing channels (slower) while with all the rest the channel changes are fine. Is there a way to fix this?

And I'm not lacking computer power either: q6600 2.4ghz, Sapphire 3850 PCI-E, 2 gb DDR3, Vista 32bit

BTW I'm using Vista and there was supposed be Java Heap registry under Frey Technologies, I don't have it, is it somewhere else in Vista or can I just add 1 and it'll do the trick?

Thanks

I assume you are using the the HD-PVR since you are capturing DishHD? If so, then yes you have to use CoreAVC as far as I am aware. This isn't a Sage issue, its an all software issue. As far as I know CoreAVC is the only software that can decode the AV stream from the HD-PVR properly (someone else can chime in if I am wrong).

No I'm using the Genpix Skywalker through the Dvbdream Encoder. It seems only ArcSoft is stutter free in SageTV in my setup. But I know CoreAVC works fine on my comp because I can see HD channels in Dvbdream with CoreAVC without any problems. And others using the encoder don't have any problem either
