6.4.4 (Mac): change priority of Favorites
Maybe this one is older than this version but both client and placeshifter make it virtually impossible to change priority of favorites. The rows are just jumping around erratically.
Does the windows version work? |

I think it needs the update that is still on my to-do list for that menu.
Edit: Yes, that was the issue & it has been fixed now. It will be in the next update. - Andy

An STV update is available that should fix this problem -- use the STV Update feature in Detailed Setup -> Advanced.
Let me know if there are still problems. - Andy

Just did the update which seemed to have worked fine since going back I now run the new version, it says. The problem, however, persists. Still jumps from 1. to 8. or doesn't move at all or goes down when I select up. I tried windowed and full screen, no difference.
Any other thing I can look at? Edit: Just updated the STV for my MAC placeshifter. That one works now! Client does not. Last edited by flavius; 06-24-2008 at 03:53 PM. |

If you go to the System Information screen, what does it say the STV filename is, and what is the STV file set version?

Quote:
The STV needs to be updated for each PC, so if the server PC has been updated, then the client PC also needs to be updated. The server can be updated from a local client or a remote client (Placeshifter or extender). If a PC has been updated, then simply try reloading the default STV for one of its UIs again in Detailed Setup -> Advanced -> SageTV Application Package. - Andy

Client and placeshifter run on an Intel iMac. The server is a windows box. Reloading the STV package reloaded the same file.
Could it be the MAC Client 6.4.4 dmg ships with on old xml file? |

You ran the STV update process on the Mac client & it said it completed successfully? If so, I'll have to do some checking to see if the update process needs to do something special on a Mac.

Yes, it ran successfully - and as I said I have the new file set version from today.

The problem hasn't been reproduced in internal testing so far on both a Mac server and client, so I'm not sure what happened.
On the system that says the STV is version 6.4.4.6, it also reports that the STV file is still SageTV3.xml? - Andy

While trying to figure out what happened... you can either simply copy the .xml file from one system to another or you can try to reset the STV file set property & try again.
If you want to try again, then exit SageTV, make sure debug logging is enabled, then set this in sageclient.properties: version/STV_file_set=2008061302 After restarting SageTV client on that Mac, try the update again to see what happens & attach the resulting log file after zipping it. BTW: after the update, there should be a file called SageTV3.xml.2008061302 along with the new SageTV3.xml file. Oh -- and I was told that in case there is a permissions issue on your system, do the following: 1> Open the "/Library/Application Support" folder 2> Select the SageTV folder, press Command-I to bring up the Get Info dialog 3> At the bottom of GI is a place where you can set the permissions, set them to allow everyone to read and write (you may have to authenticate first) 4> Click the button with the gear right below the permissions box and select "Apply to enclosed items" - Andy

Yep, I thought about about getting this over with by simply copying the file, but I'll try again.
Permissions are ok. |

This seems to be the issue: The update process creates a folder "C/\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV" (with the expected files) under /Library/Application Support/SageTV/Data - that's where the properties file lives.
It should be updating /Library/Application Support/SageTV/Data/STVs/SageTV3 - that's were the xml resides on the Mac. Correct? So, I copied the file from where the update process put it into the correct location and problem solved. I could have seen that funky folder early, well.. I sent a question to someone who knows more about the Mac than I do... but where did the 'C' path come from? When you configured your Mac SageTV client, did you copy any properties from a Windows system?

No, I did not copy anything over. That's a bug, Andy.

Well, obviously it seems like some sort of bug somewhere... but the question is "where?". The update process in the STV doesn't rely on anything regarding the C:\Program Files\SageTV path -- I'm quite sure of that because I don't have SageTV installed there & it still works for me. It also worked for our Mac developer. I don't have a Mac, therefore I don't know what could possibly cause that path to get used.
Do you have customizations installed? Did you try the update again? If so, do you have the log file that I asked for above? Even if you don't, I would like to see sageclient.properties for the Mac client. Thanks. - Andy

I haven't tried this combination yet... let me give that a shot and see if that's where the C: path is coming from.
