Content at 720p has issues due to firmware in hdpvr. Driver update from Hauppauge reported to fix. Update due out next month I think.
480p is likely the same I would guess. B

I changed over to 1080i due to the stuttering issues. But I get a sync issue on both HD extenders I have. Video is between slightly and much ahead of audio. bcjenkins... I think you're referring to the 2-3 second stuttering issue as opposed to the sync issue, correct?

stutter issues, not sync. I am not seeing sync issues, I think.. on latest beta.

That is strange, I have stuttering issues with 1080p but 95% of it goes away when I switch my source to 720p. Still have a very small amount at 720p but I can live with it for now.

"p" is where there issues are. "i" is ok.

I just checked my STB and I have 1080i not p (old eyes) and 1080i has a lot of stutter, some channels worse than others. 720p isn't perfect but its the best choice.

Sorry, I don't have HD Extenders (yet) so I'll quietly back out of this thread.

Man, I feel like finding this thread was like finding a support group. I've been pulling my hair out over the same problem - HD PVR recordings are in perfect sync in Arcsoft or w/in Sage on the server, but are noticeably out of sync on the HD100. If Sage still needs sample clips, I've got a few good ones I can send them.

Audio is significantly out of sync for me too on my HD100. WAF has plummetted to near zero : (

As far as I know, SageTV doesn't need samples for audio/video sync problems with HD-PVR recordings because it is an HD-PVR driver issue; possibly similar to this issue.
Wait for the next HD-PVR driver to see if that helps. - Andy

People have the new Beta drivers for the HD PVR.
C & P from August 20, 2008 post SHS wrote "I have beta of the latest HDPVR driver, which do enables SPDIF AC3 2.0/5.1 input support plus AC3 2.0 encoding on the RCA jacks way cool. Any way there considered a private test and not for public release sorry I can not pass them a round. Any way if all things go well then you can expect see the new public within a few days so let all hope everthing gose well with other people test it" Last edited by jerryt; 08-21-2008 at 03:17 PM. |

Good to know at least where the problem is and that it's being worked on.
Hopefully Hauppauge's perspective is the same as Sage's and we will see a fix in the next driver release. Until then, my HD-100 will be gathering dust. |

I asked people who are testing the Beta driver if the audio sync problem was fixed.
C & P from August 22, 2008 post thxkid wrote "Ok I am Beta testing the 5.1DD driver, the driver does work and the captured TS file is fine and 5.1DD AC-3 is Nsync, but once you use the arch soft extreme media to make your finished file or burned Disc the stupid software changes the audio back to 2.0 AC-3 and its all out of sysnc, there is no way to unclick the Change audio in the arch software, so who knows whos gonna fix that, ....." |

Hopefully playing live video will be different than burning to a disk...
Incidentally, I moved my Sage Server over to a newly set up WHS machine (1.2ghz Celeron... you need very little power to record with the HD-PVR), and the audi-sync is still seems better than it was at least. Still, need someone to fix this. |

At least a couple of folks in this thread are saying they have perfect playback with the HD extender.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...429#post301429 Why are some folks ok and some aren't? Last edited by Chriscic; 08-27-2008 at 02:09 PM. |

Start a Poll of who installed the TME software with their HD PVR box and who has the Audio Sync problem on their HD100 Media Extender. Theory would be that the TME software is making a registry entry or something which affects the HD PVR driver. Here I'll start; TME software installed = YES Audio Sync problem on HD100 = YES Audio Sync problem on Client = YES (Can fix with -180ms delay) Audio Sync problem on Server = NO (Maybe a small amount...) Funny thing is; the audio .18 seconds late was driving me crazy, when correcting the audio -180ms with AC3filter, the other sources should be .18 seconds early... But I can not see a sync problem that is early !! So it is working very well on the Client for now. Last edited by jerryt; 08-27-2008 at 02:39 PM. |
