Feedback for Dual HD-PVR's

I must say that after many years, I feel like I finally have the holy grail for my homebrew HTPC.

My setup:

2 Cox Motorola DCH 3200 STB set to 720p
2 HD-PVR using standard drivers
1 USB-UIRT
Server with Q6600 processor running Windows XP Pro
Sage TV latest beta
3 HD Extenders latest beta firmware

I just left HD-PVR's recording HD HBO all night long and left 2 extenders streaming it live to stress test the system. I didn't have a single hiccup the whole time.

I must give kudos to Sage and Hauppauge.

My family and I are very happy campers.

hmm - how about stressing it by changing the channels often - a single graph is easy - lets see if it can swtich

How did you get two HDPVR's already? I orderd two myself, but haven't even begun to expect the second one to ship so soon.

I ordered two, and received two. I am trying to get just one working right now. Has anyone got two working? Can you use the IR blasters on both to control their respective cable boxes?

I believe that was in the first post, above.

As with other Hauppauge tuners, only 1 of their IR balsters can be used. To control multiple boxes, you are better off looking into the USB-UIRT or, if available, either serial or firewire connections.

I've had two working great all weekend long. I'm borrowing one from a friend who ordered one too, and I will likely buy him a replacement later. I'm using a USB-UIRT, and it all works great. Easy to setup and get going, thanks to Sage, only thing is, the box I borrowed has the heat issue, and mine does not. I just put a small fan on it, and it's fine.

Well, I may have spoke too soon. One of my HD-PVR's is now on the fritz. When recording a show it will suddenly either hang or go into a repeated cycle of stopping and starting. I have e-mailed Hauppauge with an RMA request. I am fairly confident that the problem is an isolated hardware issue and not a software issue since it is only affecting one of my HD-PVR's either when hooked up alone or in conjunction with my other HD-PVR.

What are the numbers on the sticker on the bottom of the bad unit?

The reason I ask for the numbers on the sticker on the bottom of the unit is that in another thread we're seeing (so far, small sample) that the bad units are from the 2008 manufacture date (week 20, 2008). I have a 2008 unit and a 2108 unit-- the 2008 is bad, the 2108 works.

Both of my units are marked 2008, one is fine, the other has the heat issue.

Both of my HD-PVR's are 2108's. The exact number on the bad unit is 2108 10607904.
