HVR-1800 and Sage TV
I just purchased SageTV and I am having trouble setting up my Hauppauge HVR-1800 tuner card. I am running WinXP SP3 fresh install. I am able to get the WinTV to tune the analog and clear channel QAM channels without a problem.
Under SageTV I can setup the Analog tuner fine. However, it shows up as "Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture", strange I thought it was a HVR-1800 ![]() For QAM, I attempted "Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture"->Digital TV Tuner. It sits there at "Loading Preview. Please Wait" forever. If I go ahead and select the button at the bottom and try to scan for channels, I get nothing ![]() On a different note: I do have Silicon Dust HD Tuners which can tune the QAM channels fine. However, the there is not any guide data?? B2 |

Sorry - no advice. Just confirming my 1800 shows up as the same as yours: Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture.
If I remember right, I configured it in the WinTV first, made sure it could find the channels, then went to Sage and added the tuner. I don't remember if it gave me a signal screen or not (been quite a while ago). However, when i go into setting up channels, I can easily see if it's working because it does show me what the tuner has received. Good luck - I did run into a bug with this card. When both tuners (analog and digital) were recording at the same time - if someone would watch TV that is still recording (on the other tuner), it would switch so both tuners were on the same channel. Only happened once so I never worked on it. I just disabled it's analog input since I have 2 others and don't need it. |

to setup your HVR1800 clear QAM channels, see this post.

HVR-1800 and HDHomerun
Ok I have gotten a little further. So I have both a HVR-1800 and a Silicon HDHomerun tuner. So far I have gotten the analog part of the HVR-1800 working and both HDHomerun QAM tuners working. The HDHomerun setup was a pain. I had to remap each channel using the full x-y-z format...not just the"x" format that was stated at the Silicon dust site
![]() Now I am trying to setup the QAM tuner on the HVR-1800. It appears that it uses a different channel mapping than the HDHomerun box. When I go into Channel setup under Sage for the HVR-1800 it shows the HDHomerun remapping. I am afraid if I remap the channels again to the HVR-1800 values it will lose the HDHomerun settings and thus undoing all the work I have done. Am I doing something wrong? Can I not use both the HVR-1800 digital tuner and the HDHomerun? Is there a way to tell which tuner is being used when tuning a station? Thanks, B2 |

A reminder: if both sources are using the same lineup, then modifying the channels on one will affect both sources. But, you can use v6.4.3's new feature to copy a lineup to a separately configurable layout so you can remap & enable channels separately.

It is part of source setup. See Beta 6.4.3: separately configurable lineups for an existing discussion.
