Great, thanks. That means the online video updates ought to work too, since that uses a similar method now.

Andy, I ran this during my upgrade this morning. Everything worked on Vista client and linux server via placeshifter. My only comment was that I had to upgrade twice. If you want the upgrades to be applied sequentially, you might want to have it recheck or include text in the success message suggesting they come back to the screen to recheck.

Thanks for the comment -- I'll look into adding info if another update is available once the current one completes successfully.

I have the ability to setup one overall update or consecutive updates, in case one update is dependent on another -- I've been using multiple updates to test this more during the beta.

Both -- there are fixes/changes and it is for practice. The change notes were listed in the download confirmation dialog, but if you missed them, they will be listed again with the next beta release.

An STV update is available for v6.4.4 -- it fixes Favorite priority management and a problem with default MR settings in the hidden features.

New STV version: 2008062401

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.4.

Will the updater work if the hidden features are turned on? When I do the updates I have been reverting back to the default STV and turning off the hidden features, just curious if this last step is required.

All you need to do is use the default STV; it doesn't matter whether the hidden features are enabled.

Just tested the updater on the MAC client and Mac placeshifter. Both updates were successful.

I see from your other topic that the Mac client didn't actually update correctly... has anyone else using a Mac server or client had a problem where the update appeared to install successfully, but the STV did not actually get updated?

After the 2008062401 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.4.7 June 24, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008062401

An STV update is available for v6.4.4 -- among other things, it changes the playback screen to fix the possibility that live TV could start in the short time between stopping/deleting the current recording & exiting the playback menu. If you have had this problem before, please download this update and test it.

It also should fix the LNB file creation for some DVB-S sources.

After the 2008070201 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.4.8 July 2, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008070201

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.4.

Updated to 2008070201 through the HD100, works fine. I also like that there's a change log in the update, please continue to include that. And as others have suggested, an indicator to when there's a new version would be helpful. Or else, include the updates via email notification like the HD100 firmware.

An STV update is available for v6.4.5.

The biggest change is a fix for digital channel scanning in Channel Setup.

There is also a change for the Custom STV mode operation, as discussed in the Studio forum.

After the 2008071501 STV file set update, System Information should report the following:

Current STV File: SageTV3.xml (Version 6.4.5.3 July 15, 2008)
Current STV file set version: 2008071501

Note: you will only be able to update to this STV version if using the default STV with v6.4.5.

Andy -

Am I correct in assuming that this STV release would be rolled into the next beta (or final) release? Only after that happens would those who use SageMC, for example, be able to utilize this?

Matt

SageMC utilizes it's own called SageTV3-sagemc.xml. Until flachbar updates all of SageMC you would need to load the actual SageTV3.xml to utilize any of the new features of this beta and these updates.

Gerry
So I'm a little confused, I guess.

Andy notes in another post:
SageTV has a couple changes that should be tested for HDHR QAM tuning:

1) This STV Update helps map the QAM channels properly on the selected lineup.

So only users of the default STV are able to benefit from the updates to QAM mapping?

No. SageMC, as usual, should not be used for any setup tasks such as adding a new tuner -- ALWAYS use the default STV (SageTV3.xml) for these configuration tasks. After that, you can use any STV you want for normal use of SageTV.
