USB-UIRT and Comcast Tivo
I signed up for a promo with Comcast a couple of weeks ago, and they gave me a DCH3416 and then loaded TiVo code on it. They even left me with a Tivo remote. Now, I don't want to use it as a Tivo, but rather connect it to my Sage Server, for now to a PVR-1600 with IR, and later to my soon to be here HDPVR.
I tried hooking up to the PVR-1600 IR blaster, but the Hauppauge tools don't seem to have any codes to control it. I'm thinking about buying the USB-UIRT from Sage's store, does this come with the blasters to control more than one box if I decide to add more down the road? Will it be possible to teach it the codes from the Tivo remote they gave me so that it can change the channels properly? Do I have to teach the commands with the USB-UIRT's receiver, or can I set this all up through an HD Extender? I called Comcast and asked if I could switch the box out for a non-DVR, and they said no, so I figure it's worth the savings to keep this box, but buy the USB-UIRT, especially if it will get me control over more than one box down the road. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

The Information Resources for Remotes, Receivers, and IR Blasters sticky in this forum has a section for USB-UIRT links.
It does not come with extra emitters, but there are links to where that is discussed. The USB-UIRT can control any number of boxes that use separate IR code sets, or up to 3 that use the same code set. It is also possible to use multiple USB-UIRT units, if that is really needed. And, you have to point the remote at the USB-UIRT to teach codes to it that you want it to emit when using it to change the STB channels with SageTV. - Andy

Well, my USB-UIRT came in from Sage, and it works great. Incredibly simple to setup, and it learned the Tivo remote codes right away.
