Automatic DVD profiling
Alright I searched around a little bit on this forum and google, but didn't come up with anything so I figured I'd ask the <pun>Sages</pun> here. I have started to rip my DVDs to a file server and I ripped them completely uncompressed using DVD Decrypter, so I have the raw VOB files. I would like to add these to SageTV so I can watch DVDs from Sage, and I want all the info auto populated. I know you can do this with DVD Profiler, but I have to manually add this information in, either through UPC, putting the disk in, etc.... What I want to know is if there is a way to have it scan my DVD folders and automatically grab the info. I realize it won't be always be perfect, but since DVD Profiler can already grab the info based on the disk being in the drive, it seemed there should be a way to do the same thing only with folders. I'm not set on using DVD Decrypter and DVD Profiler, those just happen to be the ones I'm used to, but if something else would work better, I'm happy to use that. Any suggestions would be appreicated. Sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks. -Zipper |

The IMBD search STVi function works GREAT. Have you tried it? It's not automatic, but I can search a DVD and save the results in about 10 seconds all from inside Sage.

Stanger89 has a STVI that enables importing of the DVD Profiler information. It also copies the front and back covers into the individual DVD directories. I mainly use it for the covers and it works well, you just need to make sure your DVD directories match the title that DVD Profiler uses.

Thanks for the help. I'm using SageMC now and I've tried the built in IMDB and it seems to work pretty well, but I think I'll supplement it with DVD profiler, just in case anyone searchs here's what I found works best for me. First I find the DVD info with DVD Profiler, then I make sure to note what the <TITLLE> is in the XML, this is the directory that profiler seems to key off of. One thing I found out through trial and error is that the folder name that DVD decrypter works off of is normally what DVD profiler considers the <LabelSideA>, but it won't import off this. An example is below:
I ripped the Muse HAARP live concert DVD and by default DVD decrypter gave it the folder name MUSE_HAARP_TOUR, but the information that DVD profiler used is below. Notice the difference between title and diskidsidea. I had to rename the MUSE_HAARP_TOUR to Muse HAARP HTML Code:
<DVD> <ProfileTimestamp>2008-04-11T14:18:16.000Z</ProfileTimestamp> <ID>825646967797</ID> <MediaTypes> <DVD>True</DVD> <HDDVD>False</HDDVD> <BluRay>False</BluRay> </MediaTypes> <UPC>825646-967797</UPC> <Title>Muse HAARP</Title> <DistTrait/> <OriginalTitle/> <CountryOfOrigin/> <Discs> <Disc> <DescriptionSideA>Main Feature</DescriptionSideA> <DescriptionSideB/> <DiscIDSideA>71CA6F87FE54AA58</DiscIDSideA> <DiscIDSideB/> <LabelSideA>MUSE_HAARP_TOUR</LabelSideA> <LabelSideB/> <DualLayeredSideA>True</DualLayeredSideA> <DualLayeredSideB>False</DualLayeredSideB> <DualSided>False</DualSided> <Location/> <Slot/> </Disc> </Discs> <SortTitle>Muse HAARP</SortTitle> </DVD> -Nebruin Last edited by Nebruin; 05-14-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

Label Side A is basically the volume name given to the DVD when it was created. Some DVDs are created with generic volume names like DVD_DISK or other such names. It is not a field you can consistently key off of. That's why in DVD Profiler it can't always find the DVD you've just inserted in the drive in the Library. You have to manually add it or use the UPC code.

Cool thanks, that's good info. I'm really happy now, everything is working like I'd expect. I was curious though about how people handle DVDs that have multiple disks that aren't listed in IMDB or , for example I have "The Aviator" the actual move in one folder, but then the DVD comes with an Extras DVD, I have this stored in "Aviator Extras", but I am unable to find any corrosponding entry in IMDB or DVD Profiler. Do you just copy the image over and name it folder.jpg?

Here is a thread where I talk about getting the most out SageMC's video library. In the first post is a link to a second thread talking more specifically about multi-disc dvd profiler import. At the end of the thread is the download location for the updated DVDPro2Sage class file.
