i'm using 2 beta 11 but this still applied with 1.4.10 - spdif

when playing dvd's my video decoders work perfectly but for some reason the ONLY way i can get digital bitstream to pass is if i use the AC3 filter from sourceforge.

when i select sonic or powerdvd decoders all i get is pcm stereo.

is there any way that i can force sage to pass DD using the sonic codec?

i can continue to use AC3 filter but i'd rather use sonic or powerdvd so that i can have the option to pass DTS.

With Sonic, try setting it to use S/PDIF in the CP or the filter control app. I use Sonic and it passes DD/DTS just fine.

already did that.

powerdvd and sonic native applications pass the digital signal fine but any time i try to use the codecs in a 3rd party player such as sage or simple video (for example) all i can get is stereo playback.

my spdif out is onboard alc 650 fwiw. it's realy not a huge deal because as i mentioned the AC3 filter will work and i tend to watch most of my dvd's as ripped and stripped versions hence the dts is typically dumped as it takes more space than AC3.

thanks though!

And these aren't the OEM versions of the decoders. These are the full blown, I paid for it, and also includes any power packs or sound add-ons some of them might require to give you the capability of using that with other apps?

gerry, your reply seems like its missing a sentence?

powerdvd is a full copy, sonic is a codec pack for xp but still passes ac3 and dts in windows media player.

Have you tried changing audio renderer, I use M-Audio Revolution for mine, not DS, or Wave.

i'll try the other options again tonight.
