Bad recording with 6.4.2
I just watched my first HD recording done with 6.4.2. I must say ouch! I have not had a bad HD recording like this since version 4 days.
The time line is all messed up. As I watched the show (Moonlight) the time line would complete and Sage said the show was over in 2:12 minutes. This is an hours show. I could see the minutes tick off the time line for every second played. I closed Sage and watched it in WMP. With WMP I could use the mouse, every 2:12 minutes to click on the time line, reseting it to the "proper" place in the time line. I was able to watch the entire show this way. Reseting the time line very 2 minutes. The entire hour of the show was recorded, ~6GB, the recording quality was good, but were the media players ever confused. Anyone else seen this? I'll try to do a manual recording of HD on the same tuner, but I'm hoping this was a fluke. I kept the recording around just in case. Ideas? EDIT: Ok I just checked the only other show I've recorded since the upgrade and it is broken also. Moving back to 6.3 for now. Last edited by lovingHDTV; 05-11-2008 at 01:00 PM. |

I have only recorded "Saturday Night Live" - It was messed up. However, "48 Hours Mystery" recorded fine (not HD).

I also frequently have bad recordings with my Hauppauge HDR-1600, the TS-418. Sometimes it';s just fine and other times it terrible. I've found that sometimes I can convert the file and it plays fine, other times it's bad. I was using it with comcast cable. But I noticed that nearly all their digital channels are not HD. I put it back to OTA. I'll be looking this week to see how many of my recordings are bad.

Mine are all OTA recordings. I've been using the HVR-1600 for almost a year now with no issues. This is the first time I've got a bad recording, but with two in a row after the upgrade I figured that was the issue. It is all that I changed.
I moved back to 6.3 for now, but will file a bug. Anyone know if you can do something to the file to fix the time line? |

I'm having recording issues as well with my HDHR on Sage 6.4.2 (everything worked fine in 6.3.10). My issue is that if I click anywhere on the timeline or use Skip Forward or Rewind on my remote, playback starts back at the beginning of the show (timeline still looks fine but the playback starts the show over again). Extremely annoying as I can't navigate at all anymore within the show. I filed a bug report as well. Hoping this gets fixed real soon.

I haven't recorded anything in HD yet on 6.4.2. However SD recordings and HD viewing have been problem free.
Also, there's been a long standing issue on full clients when watching HD shows that seeking around in the file is often not accurate. This plagued me mostly on HD recordings from my local CW affiliate of Smallville. The Smallville episode I recorded on Thursday (6.3.10) played back perfectly with 6.4.2 - no seek errors at all. So that's a sign of improvement to me..... Does everyone need the new TSSplitter? btl.
